Wish I was out riding...

« on: June 02, 2011, 05:24:29 PM »

I am fixing a bike that had hydrolock and have nearly all of the parts together except one.  I have a new rear case and in it are two bearings.  One is listed in the fiche for the rear case (#12)

BEARING (6010)
91002-MN5-003

There is another bearing that goes in the rear case that is smaller than this bearing.  It is not listed with the rear case page.  So I looked at the final shaft page and see part#14 which might be it

BEARING (22X52X15)
91005-MN5-003

But I have one of those and it is not the right size Sad

So either the part number is wrong or I am looking in the wrong place.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I just looked on hdlparts.com fiche and see #13 Bearing 28x35x60 part # 91024-MN5-003. Could that be the bearing you are looking for?

Got one of those #13's as well.  Another $30 down the drain.  That was what I first ordered and that turns out to be roller bearing that I have no idea where it goes.  No big deal, it is now in my inventory.  I have more Valkyrie parts in stock than the local dealer (1 part is more than they have Wink )  If anyone ever needs it, I have one!

So it's not #13 either.

Since the case is busted, I will probably just cut the case and extract the old bearing without damaging it.  I really want to put this thing back together this weekend.

Thanks for the help though!

Okay, I just went down to the garage and got a thought in my head (Hey, better late than never) and had a old tape measure that was metric and measured the outer diameter of the bearing in the old case.  It is 62mm and the bearing that I received is 52mm.

There is 6206 stamped on the outer race and x23 on the inner race.  The 6206 I can sort of figure out but the x23 I don't know.

Okay, so I searched google for "bearing 22x62x15" and I came up with 91003-P24-J01.  This is used in Honda TRX400/450, Acura transmission, Honda Civic, etc.  So maybe I can just go get this part at an auto parts store and it will be the same?

Since you can get the old bearing out, I would suggest doing that precisely!

If it is still Ok, go ahead and use it.

If you want to replace it, take it to a bearing house or a NAPA store and they can match it up easily.

I think it's probably still Ok and I would urge you to use it again. Wash it out good and use some light oil on it and feel for smoothness. Pretty simple and a good test!

Thanks for the info.  I was able to get what I think is the correct part 91204-MN5-003 from the local Honda (auto) dealer for tomorrow morning with no extra shipping or any of that other crap that my local Honda (motorcycle) dealer charged.

If it is not the correct part, then I will use the old bearing.  It will be fine as long as I do not damage it removing it from the old case.  I have been known to do things like that Wink

Note that 91204-MN5-003 is not the correct part.  It has the correct outer diameter but the inner is too small.  Oh well, it was only $20 so it was worth a shot.  My son cut out the bearing from the old case and I used that one.  It was fine.   I still don't know what bearing actually goes in this, but make note that the parts fiche is wrong so anyone else having to replace the case, take note.
