I know this has been asked before and at that time I wasn't really thinking about replacing my GPS. But as I have gotten older the screen seems to have shrunk  so I am wondering what recomendations people may have. What I need is a good size screen, water proof, can be mounted on the Valkyrie and can also be used in the car. Oh yeah, my current and previous GPS have been Garmin so I am rather partial towards them. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. |

I use the Zumo by Garmin, it works well, even though it has its Mayham moments  but 99% of the time it is very reliable and easy to use, it can be set up with big LETTERS and such. |

+1 on the Zumo.
It's very motorcycle friendly and the screen is large enough for my sixty-year-old eyes.

I have the Zumo 550, waterproof and has the XM built in, so you don't have to have 2 units on the handlebars.

my StreetPilot 2610 is still cranking along.. just love it. But it is out of dat by a couple of 3 years.. so my day is coming.

Go to the Garmin site and find one of the middle or the road in price that has a lifetime of map updates free.
Garmin's are all good.
I have a 2610 I've had for several years and also a Tom Tom I think it is called. I use the later in the Trike, Bike, Truck or car. 2610 hasn't been out of the drawer since the last InZane at Johnson City, and it's map set is way out of date..

Stick with Garmin, If you want a water proof one go with the Zumo, I use a Nuvi 760 which is not waterproof but I don't leave it out in the rain anyway, works great no problems and I use it for music also.
Some of the other brands are fine I'm sure I have also been a Garmin fan.
Good Luck with your choice of gps , they all do weird navigation from time to time but I know you'll always find your way!

I went with the Zumo 450.  Didn't need XM, I was already set up for that and I don't mind separate units. Also, no problems with mine. I love the fact that you can sit in from of your computer and make a turn-by-turn route and load it into the unit. |

I love my Garmin Zumo 665. Not just for the GPS but for the real time weather radar overlays and warnings. It also does traffic congestion but I rarely change my route based upon it.

The Nuvi 500/550 looks very interesting, especially the 8 hour battery life. However, for you Nuvi owners how well does the touch screen perform when you are wearing leather gloves or rain gloves?

The Zumo's the best, mainly because it's motorcycle-specific. But I've been happy with the Garmin 765T, which is now selling for about half of what I paid for it a year and a half ago. I swap it between the Valk and my car. It has lifetime traffic (but not maps), bluetooth, mp3 and custom routes/mapquest. It's not waterproof, but I keep a ziploc bag handy, and that works fine in rain. The battery life could be better, only a couple of hours, but I've got it hardwired with a power outlet in the right neck cover, so I hardly ever run it on just battery power. As others have said, if you get a Garmin other than a Zumo, make sure it has custom routes, so you can design back road trips.
