Last Saturday, my family all pitched in and helped me move. I didn't move far, just short of a half mile. It's a nice big condo apartment with a garage that will fit in both the Mazda Three and the Suzuki VStrom 1000. No big deal, I thought.
After 56 years it is a Big Deal!........... A long time in one place, a long time with lots of memories of the wife and I raising four good kids. We had a rule in our house concerning our kids. The rule was that they could stay as long as they liked but once they left, they couldn't come back. That worked for three of them but Mark, Mad6Gun, stayed . He stayed so long that I sold him the house and lived in his house instead of the other way around. I said I'd leave if he found his OAO (One and Only). He did and I did.
Mark was with me throughout including my long term caregiving of my wife. My other kids were always there for me too, but Mark was there physically when the wife fell in the bedroom at 2AM and I couldn't lift her up as she weighed over 300 pounds.
Now I find that unsuspectingly, Mark and I have a bond that is a little stronger than the other kids because he was home all these years. It is hard for both of us now that we are no longer living under the same roof. In fact, I've had him for over for dinner a number of times already this week.
His girl friend has been busy with her family problems so he hasn't seen her all week. Both of them are in the process of cleaning and painting his house, something that I left go as my ambition has been reduced considerably at 83.
Time changes things and I will adapt to my 'new' apartment but I want everyone to know that I am proud of all my kids and proud of Mark, Mad6Gun.
A father couldn't ask for a better family. I have been extremely blessed!
Wayne, Solo1

That's so good to read. With family and children, often you get back what you put in. So, congrats for an awsome job of being a Dad and role model!
