I was just looking at the new Gold Wings on the Honda web site. The base model does not have ABS brakes!!!! You have to spend several thousand additional dollars to get the model with navigation and ABS. What were they thinking??
My 2010 Concours 14 has ABS and it is a ton less expensive than a Gold Wing.
I am glad that I have my Valk Interstate (now it is Valk related).

As a former GL1800 owner , my favorite all time bike, I can say that the 2012 Wing restyle leaves a lot to be desired, I just don't like it. I think we will see a new from honda since the BMW is on the streets. If BMW had better production capacity now they could gain some market share in that segment. I feel in acouple of years we will have a new wing.. And I am sure it will be better than the BMW, just like when the waited until the KT1200lt was released until they released the 1800..

Do you want side airbags and A/C too ? How much extra for windshield wipers and a roof?

From the looks of the 2012 Goldwing, it appears they are growing tired of producing motorcycles, Butt ugley. As far as the ABS brakes, I view them as a selling item. Just think about the number of times they have been used on your auto, on mine never. I hope I never need them on the Valkyrie and I try to ride in a fashion that regular braking will always surfice. (IMO) I think the 2012 Wing has a BMW vibe going on. . . and I don't like it at all. Not sure what Honda is thinking. To each their own, but if I'm in the market for a BMW looking bike, then I'm buying a BMW. I don't get it.

the only thing a goldwing has, that i would like on my valk is fuel injection. that's it, nothing else. my interstate has everything i ever wanted in a cruiser, plus, what it didn't come with, i put on later when the funds were available. if honda were smart, they'd get rid of the gold wing, and make VALKYRIES!!!!

Honda has lost the plot for sure... Cruisers are limited to 750, 1300, and the goldwing.. the mid-line is just ugly. They made a big deal about the Fury (chopper).. really? I have never seen one on the road. Goldwing is a good product for them.. but if they launched an injected, 1800cc, 6 speed Valk line, I believe it would be a huge success ..

Personally I think the new wing is an improvement over the old one looks-wise. According to an article in Cycle World (or Rider... don't remember at the moment) the "new" wing also handles better and is a better overall cycle than the last one.

Honda is now pushing the smaller bore bikes.
I.E. The new all redesigned, advertised heavily, one cylinder, CBR250,.
The world does not revolve around the USA anymore.
They would rather sale 300,000 CBR250's than 20,000 wings.
That's all.

I recently checked out the FURY at a dealership.......Cheap and uncomfortable looking...only metal on the so called tins is the tank. I agree I aint seen nobody on no fury on no roads.......They are not selling like hotcakes.

We saw a Furry parked in the bike section while out on a ride with my 8 year old daughter...
She looked at it.. "Daddy! It's all PLASTIC!!!"
That pretty much sums it up when an 8 year old thinks it's a plastic toy...

I'm not trying to start a flame here, but that Vision thing is the most BUTT UGLY "bike" I've ever seen! I'm sure there's plenty of people HERE who actually like it and that’s fine. I'll just add it to the long, long list of mysteries that I'll never understand like who really was the builder of the Sphinx, what’s the airspeed velocity of a laden African Swallow and how did the Delilah-Bama get elected? You know; 'stuff' no one can seriously answer. . .

I saw the new 2012 Gold Wing at a shop last week next to the 2010/2011 model. I think Honda did a nice facelift on it. My wife and I were in a BMW shop yesterday (looking for a Shark helmet) and her comment on their newest 6 was "the Wing looks 10x more comfortable".
But I agree with Alph in that I'd love to have efi on the Valk. And a 6th gear please.

Something about the rear view of those bags and trunk tells me that a full-on redesign got sheet-canned somewhere along the way. They don't even come close to matching.
