I have a 1980 1100 Goldwing with a worn out engine .... I have a friend who has a 1200 engine just dying to be used .... My question is does anybody know if I can fit that 1200  motor into a 1980 1100 standard frame and work ..... will it bolt up or will I have to change the motor mounts .... and will the drive shaft work on my rear drive unit  , I'm kinda thinking that 1200 is wider than the 1100 .... the 1200 engine is cheap and running with fairly low mileage ( free to me ) just come and get it out of the garage if its too much bs than I'll just shop around for a descent 1100 engine .....  I need some  VRCC wisdom ..... Thanks Old Geezer Richard

In a nutshell:

No, you can't.

Too many differences between the model years, and it'll be cheaper to buy a used 1100 motor and put that the '80.

Describe "worn out" to me...how many miles on the GL1100 engine?

Hey BaggerJohn my old wing had 225,000 miles on it before it gave up the ghost .... I had oil pump up into the radiator over flow container with oil for some reason .... I think the the water pump  seal must have gone out , and believe it or not there was no water in the oil  ....  well anyway I'll just keep an eye out for a low mileage 1100 engine that I can put in this summer after the Inzane ... Thanks Old Geezer Richard
