I've hated my loud pipes for way too long. I welded a 12" Cherry Bomb Glasspacks to a 2" threaded coupling, which threads onto the bell reducer. This sounds better than I thought, deep and throaty. This should eliminate my  in-flight headaches. Then I replaced my shorty slash cut truck stacks with 36" straight cut truck stacks, with Grumpy's machined billet exhaust tips. Now the noise is out the rear. I think I'm gonna like this as much as I like looking at it when my broken foot heals Roll Eyes
Special Thanks to a member with more skill and knowledge than myself to make this happen...You know who you are. cooldude

She used to look like this with the slash cuts.

You can see the old pipes don't even come out past the bags.

I really like the new look and sound. This length should be perfect with the bags mounted. Can't wait to get them back on Smiley

Hey,

I'm in the market for a set of truck stacks............. You wouldn't be interested in making someone a good deal on a set would you?

Sorry about the foot  (when you kick the wife that hard, you have to wear softer shoes...LOL)

I am gimping around (from aggravating) a bad right ankle sprain in 1970...... I've had worse injuries, but none that has stayed somewhat chronic all my life like this freaking ankle).

I like the exhaust, nice work (and like to hear it too).  I am a fan of piggie-cut-and-no-more exhaust noise (after 18 years on a hog with Pythons).  Ehh?

Wow!!!
Those babies look beautiful... I won't be able to sleep tonight!    2funny

I received my 36" tacks like yours on Friday. However, I've been hung up on one step of the installation instructions...    Embarrassed
http://www.timskelton.com/valkyrie/how_to/stacks.htm

I just posted this question... before I saw this thread.... but my concerns are two-fold.

QUESTIONS:

1.  Must I really remove the entire exhaust system to fit these babies in? By your photos it looks like I might not have to tear it all down...

2.  What is the orientation of the "required" 9" X 2" cut to accommodate the engine hangars?
It seems that the cut should be made along side the pipe, but these instructions are not clear on that one point.  ???
http://www.timskelton.com/valkyrie/how_to/stacks.htm

Could you or anyone shed some light on these questions... Please?

PS: I did not order those beautiful end caps. The manufacturer of my stacks was not aware of their existence!  crazy2

Your bike is gorgeous! I love the chrome piece framing the solo seat...

Thanks All,
Joe, I kicked a concrete curb barefooted, then while doing the "Oh crap that hurt dance" I did the same thing again. Broke in two places.

3Fan4life, They are not perfect and they may be a little short for your Interstate? They are drilled for mounting, not cut to slide on. Still interested? PM me.

Paxton,  I butchered my exhaust 5 years ago. Just finished with these touches recently. I did not cut and slide on, (mine were removed) I drilled and bolted mine to the rear peg mounting bracket. Much sturdier that way. I'm late for work, need more time to hobble on crutches. I'll get back with you this evening.

If you haven't already, put some antisieze on those pipe threads.  Ask me how I know.  I haven't found pipe wrenches long enough yet to break mine loose.

you can cut 7 1/2 inches off the rear of the stock pipes and just have the rear baffles,, slide them in behind the glass packs at the rear and it will hush it up even more for those long trips,,,

Don't know why you are so proud of that bike.
There's 3 fingerprints on the left stack and a speck of dust on the fender.
Sheesh!
Don't blame that on the foot.

My "Dragonfly" came w/-the non-OEM short pipes shown in the photos below. The sound is good but too close to my ears...  Sad

Is it feasible to somehow keep 'em in place and "wrap" them w/-the 4" stacks?  Undecided

I am looking for the easiest, fastest, less intrusive installation method.
Consider that my attention span's 'bout 12 seconds in between senior moments.  crazy2
