I moved this from Tech Board because it didn't seem "techy" Roll Eyes

Had a post about a week ago looking for chrome bolt that holds the front of saddlebag guard on.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,28694.msg261469.html#msg261469

Good suggestions,  I did get part number and ordered it from a place but on order I saw shipping date about a month away. Called and cancelled.

Went with the one from the other side to Ace Hardware and they got one almost the same, just a little longer.  Went home and put it in and the OEM back where I lost the one.  Had to get the wife out for extra hand to pull back on the rails so the bolt could be put in (now dang I'm indebted to her).

here is the one from Ace on the left side just behind the shock.

Here is OEM on right.

Here is what I saw between my exhaust pipes after running around, checking internet etc. and just when I finished.

You can see the one I lost stuck between the exhaust.  Am I blind or what?? uglystupid2 uglystupid2 crazy2 crazy2

All the stuff I put up so I can find it, disappears.  The only way to find it is to buy another.  Happened today with the gps handlebar mount.  Been missing for a month and found it today.  One day after the new one came in the mail.  I feel your pain.  uglystupid2

I usually find the lost one a week or so later-under the workbench.
Now, to remember where you put the spare!

i built a shed on the "brimuda rectangle" in my back yard.  i've dropped stuff, and it seems like the concrete absorbs it instantly!!   Grin

You are making our fraternity grow!  Ace has a great selection of chrome fasteners to replace "lost" or broken ones!

While the 1520CC Flat Six is a beautiful thing to behold, anything dropped from above, seems to vanish when it hits that engine...  uglystupid2

My favorite thing to have vanish, is the bottom right windshield mounting bolt...  Plink, clatter, and it's just gone  Undecided

When I married, my wife came with a dog that would pick up ANY tool I set down and take it to her. Hammers, screwdrivers, sockets, bags of parts, etc.

Well thank you very much. What in the he77 are we talkin bout?? Ya gotta be referring to my misplaced and reordered and intalled o rings dust deal and thrust washer i'll bet. Yep-put em where i wouldn't not only not fergit where they was but in the shop with the valk. Fast forward to put the new parts in and you got it-parts have took a powder. uglystupid2 Call my local friendly honda parts guy(he really is) and reorder. Get stuff installed test ride yada yada. Sittin at my computer and mama sez-reach down and pick up the yellow bag-the one that has HONDA printed on it. uglystupid2 It wernt in the shop-and i haven't got the foggiest clue who put em next to my computer. And i have a twilight zone thingy goin on in my shop. Have put my glasses on the m/c seat-went to put em back on-no dice. Gotta have em to ride watch t v and like that. Search high and low-and found em on the work bench in one of the tool boxes or in my m/c trailer-nowhere close to the seat i left em on. tickedoff Oh well cheer up things could be worse. That right thar is why i DON'T cheer up. RIDE SAFE.

I would like to say that I have never done anything that dumb.......

Note, "like to say"

The night before hunting season 3 years ago I started looking for the ammunition for my rifle, late of course because I got the wife's and daughters stuff together. Couldn't find the box anywhere, so at 1130 pm I am loading 20 30-06 cartridges. I am pretty quick, so I got done in about a hour, put 3 in the coat and the rest of the box in a place where I would know exactly where they were. In the cabinet, just to the left of the box I had loaded 2 weeks ago and couldn't find.
