I have always done a spring cleaning on my Valks, just a little late getting to it this year.  The I/S is done and now for the Std.
I remove the saddlebags so I can wax the bottoms and back sides.  Remove 3 separate sets of air deflectors to polish the plexiglass.  Stripped the trunk of the luggage rack, backrest and tail lights.  Do a complete disassemble of all 3 pairs of Kury ISO wing boards...polish the chrome and condition the rubbers.  Repainted the heat shields under the bags (second time for this).  Stripped all the wax off and treated it with a product that Solo 1 has recommended for some time now...Rejex.  I polished the paint with a Meguire's Professional product, Swirl Remover first because I read on the net that the Rejex won't hide any small imperfections.  Looks pretty good for an 11 year old bike.

Well, I think I've been through 27 States.  So yes, I do get around.  RJ has suggested in the past that I clean more than I ride.  He may be half right  Smiley

You know, as I was into my second day, I thought if I was doing this for someone else, I wouldn't do it for less that $200.  Cheesy

You say you condition the rubber (no, I'm not going to go there.... Roll Eyes)-  What do you use, an Armor-All type product, or are you talking about something else?

Thanks for all the nice comments.  It's always cool to see the look on someones face when they ask how old the bike is.  And even though my I/S looks almost new, if my wife is with me, she is riding the Purple & White '97 Std and nobody even see's the Interstate.   People have walked right past the Black bike without a second look to check out the '97.  Sad
The '97 is next.  I'll be taking the saddlebags off tonight.  It won't take as long to clean up that one.

You say you condition the rubber (no, I'm not going to go there.... Roll Eyes)-  What do you use, an Armor-All type product, or are you talking about something else?

I have used for several years Scotchgard Protective Gel.  I am officially out and I see it is no longer made.  I do see that Armor All has a rubber/vinyl cleaner and protectant and so does Mequire's.  I will need to look into those because I want to do the backside of the fairing.

Sweat?  Lot's.  Probably close to 100 deg in the garage.  Was interesting Monday night trying to put everything back together without "dripping" on the shinny surfaces.

WOW!!! just WOW!! cooldude Cool

More than 20 hours.  All day and into the evening Sat and Sun.  That includes washing.  I have heart and lung "issues" and the heat and humidity makes it  hard to breath so I probably don't move as fast as someone else might.

Lookin sweet Steve.  Been doing the same to my black IS.

I started to take that sticker off 2 years ago and thought it was going to take more effort than it was worth.  It has been on there 11 years now, probably has bonded with the paint.  Cheesy

heart and lung issues, and you are spending time in a HOT humid garage.   What are ya thinkin laddy?     My cardiologist and or lung Dr would have me by the Kahunas if I pulled a stupid stunt like that.

Ya might want to make sure ya got your insurance all paid up and a good hunk of change in coverage for Laura, to put ya in the ground and live on.

Damn, I gave you more credit than that.

Off my soapbox now.

We will return to our normal programming.
