Per the last meeting, I volunteered to lead one of my yearly midnight runs (to escape the heat) in July.  This ride will be on either July 8th or July 9th, depending on the feedback as to which night (Friday or Saturday) is best for the most.  We will KSU about 9:00PM and arrive for a midnight breakfast at our destination.

The ride this year is to Ardmore, Oklahoma.  It will start in Plano, go through Mickinney, Farmersville, past Trenton, Whitewright, Bells, over the Carpenter Bluff Bridge into Oklahoma, then to Kemp, Achille, Durant, over Lake Texoma and on to Ardmore to the IHOP at I-35 and 70.

This is not a twisty route - it's nighttime!  But it does cross a major river, lake, etc and should be cool enough that we won't melt along the way.

I will preride this and determine a good start time plus our fuel stop along the way and post those later.  It's 150 miles up so figure about 3 hours, then 2 hours coming back down I-35.

Maybe some of our Oklahoma brothers would like to join us for the eats at the IHOP.  Or suggest a better 24 hour breakfast joint in that area.

My 2 cents, Saturday would work for me, I usually work late on Friday and sometimes come back on Saturday.  Sounds like a great plan though.  I haven't done a night run in years. cooldude

I haven't made any of the previous Midnight Rides, but they sound like fun.   cooldude

I just don't like the riding through the countryside at night part.   Sad

We don't go fast, the roads are generally not twisty and it is so much cooler than a day ride.

If I ever finish my maintenance, I'll do a pre-ride and let you know if I see any critters.

Mark, you still going on this ride??   I am really interested in this one.  A few years ago, the club I used to ride with would do these rides all the time.  If I have enough advance notice, I will be there.

As long as we get some decent interest, I'll lead it.  Would like to fill a table at the IHOP.

Here's a slight modification which will shorten the route.

We stop in Durant and have Pizza at the Americo Pizzeria at the Choctaw Casino. Maybe drop a quarter in the slots. That makes it a 92 mile out, 90 mile back trip.

What about that?
