I removed my saddlebags to change rearend fluid.
Well you know what happens, clean all mounting hardware.
Then had to lightly sand and paint the pans under saddle bags.
Anybody else have this happen to them?
I know it happens to us all.
Looking forward to seeing you all next month.

Yes, I do know.  Undecided

It seriously extends the re-assembly time. I had the I/S bags in the living room last night cleaning, polishing and waxing them up. And then of course, one more coat

Haven't even started on the rails...

and my friends laugh at me for dissambling stuff so I can clean more........Once a month or few I do my under cover cleaning.  I remove anything that covers an area that gets dirty and clean behind it

gas tank
side covers
coolant reserve tank
seat
windshield
saddlebags
brake and rear master cylinder covers
alternator cover
front frame (neck area) panels

The last time I noticed the front of the steering head was a haze of rust from a too thin paint job from the factory so I removed the headlight and sanded/painted the leading edge of the steering head...like new now.

Your method results in one shiny motorcycle, so they don't need to be laughing all that hard...

When our red and whites are next to each other, yours looks like the one at Barber's compared to mine...
