I know the Stebel (sp?) is the popular horn of choice, but i'm looking for different, and loud enough to provide cage drivers with instant excrement expulsion. Ive got a friend running a Nathan P3 airchime on his towtruck from a locomotive and that thing will take your breath away but I can forsee some mounting issues.  Any ideas.

Rivco makes some pretty loud air-horns.  They have two kinds for the valk, one mounted up by the radiator and the other hidden under the bike.

I have the BigBF quad horn set. No air horn I've heard is as loud. And they're electric so no air tank to mount.

Went to salvage yard and picked up a dual set of horns off a Dodge Caravan
Some L brackets and stainless steel nuts and bolts, some wire, relay, and about 45 min of time.
$8 for horns
$25 for relay, wires, brackets and assorted things.

Have used them successfully in the field of battle.
Will scare the bejezes out of folks.

BigBF quad horns would be twice the fun I would suppose, but mine already hurts my ears.

+!  cooldude
Mounting them under the bike makes them a tad quieter for the rider.  Impressive.  Crowds have been moved, and the dead have risen.

I had the Rivco horns that mount by the radiator.  They sound like the horn on a clown car or maybe a honking goose.  I would rather have the stock road runner sounding horn.

I went with a chrome Stebel and made a mount to put it where the stock petcock knob used to be.  Cage drivers have almost driven into the median when I hit it when they tried to change lanes on top of me.

The air horns that mount on bikes don't have air tanks.  There is a second or two lag from the time you hit the button for the air to go from the compressor except for the Stebel and its copies.  The horns are attached directly to the compressor so no lag.

I find most bike air horns sound loud, but high enough they make me laugh. The Nathan P3 airchime he mentioned would need a multi-gallon high pressure tank, so yeah, mounting issues. I looked into train and ship horns for a while. Train horns would probably fit under the swingarm, but would require a SCUBA tank somewhere...

I wanted to stay away from the compressor issues with an air horn so I purchased the FIAM ROAD BLASTERS. I bought the hi and low and absolutely love them. One mounted in the original spot with the original bracket and the other mounted on the opposite side with the FIAM bracket.

Big BF's quad horns are unbelievably loud.  I questioned jacking the bike up with horns underneath the bike. Contact him with that concern.

Loudness is one thing but the pitch must be considered as well. Both of the above are great!

See if you can't find a website that has sound tracks for all the different horns before you purchase. I did but have no idea where it was.

If listening to them over the phone would help, contact me. InZane might be a good resource for you. Big BF might be there like last year and he will install them as well.

I made my own version of Big bf horns using 4 car horns, 2 high tone and 2 low.
Mounted to the swingarm as Big bf's.
No issues with using a jack as the adapter goes up to the frame infront of the horns.

+1 on what JetDriver said. These are easy to install and I've had ZERO problems with them. They've been on the bike over 5 years. I like the way they look, big and chrome, like the Valkyrie. I use them only when needed here in Florida (every time I ride)
I give them a thumbs up  cooldude

I put a set of these on mine:

http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece-12-volt-electric-horn-set-99911.html

They aren't pretty enough to win any contests but they are chrome and they are loud.

And they're less than $10.

Having picked anything up yet, but I have my eyes on these:

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=13976&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=10106&subdeptNum=10464&classNum=10465

All stainless construction, deep tone under 500hz, and 109db, 6amp draw (vs 15+ for air), and compact.

I bought the high and low-tone FIAMM  freeway blaster horns off Amazon. I think they were $18 shipped and I just installed them in my fairing. There is room for at least two more horns besides these, but I think they'll do the job.
