Want to install a good security device, want to know what is simple and yet effective and reasonable in cost.
Went on a trip and had someone think they needed a bike, damaged the ignition in trying to start it.
good thing that is all that was damaged. I could not get the key into ignition slot.

Was parked outside a Best Western hotel at Laurete, Montana when it was fooled with.
Hotel offered and paid for the fix. Good people. Much appreciated the help as I am from Canada.

What has worked for you guys?

Probably the best security is the word "Honda" written on it!   Grin   Wink

I don't know how many times I've been riding with fellow Valk riders and they sometimes inadvertently left the key in the ignition when we made a food or even an overnight stop!  Never stolen or messed with.  We jokingly said it's because it's a Honda...   Evil

I know it sounds goofy, but hide it under a full cover...  I don't frequent bad neighborhoods, but sometimes the hotel ya book, ain't as purdy as it looks on the internet.

I've got a Dowco, that only shows the pipes and the bottom of the tires  cooldude

Out of sight, out of mind  Wink

I think the most important thing is where you decide to stop.

Besides locking the forks and covering the bike, you can add a padlock to a front brake caliper. (It's going to take a few guys to lift it up and carry it to the pickup bed)

There are locks that have alarms as well.

what i did for security was carry a gun, but alas, i am retired navy and they won't allow me to bring my gun on base, (go figure, carried one protecting the country all my adult life, now they want me unarmed) anyway, i went out and bought myself a bright pink t-ball bat that says "barbie" on it. if i catch them, well use your imagination.

how would you like to be the gangbanger who had to go back and tell his gang he got his a$$ kicked by some grey headed old sailor with a pink barbie bat. he he !

I recently bought the SR-c400 with 3-Stage Perimeter Sensor for under $150 from their website, it has a 1/2 mile receiver on a fob...

Its a 3 wire hook up, small, easy to hide...

scorpioalarms.com  click on specials banner.....

its piece of mind knowing that when its set, if anybody walks up or near your bike they will get a warning before setting it off, which will notify you that its being violated...

I love my bike... to do nothing then dont complain if something happens...

a gun... you guys crack me up.... do you sleep with your bikes or what?

On the road, I won't get a room where I cannot park the bike right outside my ground floor room.

Here is another unit you could take with you for security (but they cost more than a lock/alarm).

I bought a security lock (a bright yellow grenade) for the rotor. I added a cheap $ store key springy-a-magigy (like the old telephone cord) with a clip that I wrape around the throttle handle (bright yellow), to remind me that I have the wheel lock in place. Along with locking the steering lock.

Does this work?

Don't know. Haven't been over night in to meany places, and I still have my different bikes, Honda both of them, after 3 years.
