netted 24 or 26 thousand pages of emails covering the Palin governorship. what did they find out?

probably nothing. that is a huge outlay of man hours and resources for a 'distraction'

are we real sure this is just a distraction?  I'm not emotionally attached to a Palin presidency, just pointing out with mild amusement the difference between what I hear and what I see......

oh I forgot, there is NO ONE in the Republican camp that can lay a finger on Obama in the next election. so they tell me  uglystupid2 2funny

still pulling for Cain, going to pull the trigger and send him a contribution.

And your point is?

Perhaps that Palin ought not to be subject to the same FOI rules as everybody else?

What's the gripe again... except they're investigating the lady you have the hots for?

It looks like this request was started by some media groups when Palin was selected to be McCain's running mate, and they are just now releasing them.  Paper copies only, and you have to physically pick them up in Alaska.

Among other things, they found emails from Palin supporting and accepting Federal dollars for the so-called Bridge to Nowhere, then staunchly opposing the idea once it looked bad for her campaign.  The project was stopped, but those Federal dollars were kept by Alaska and used for other projects.

To me these are typical political moves, so they are finding out that Palin is a typical politician...  Supporting spending that benefits her or her allies, and then distancing themselves when it looks bad for them.

The whole thing was a left wing witch hunt initiated by Mother Jone's David Corn, who often appears on Chris Mathew's Hardball and is a dyed in the wool Palin hater. It was another attempt to diminish Palin.  It somewhat backfired because Palin came out looking less stupid and uninformed than her public image.  She actually did fight the corrupt Republican party in Alaska, did get the oil companies to cough up money to the state of Alaska and seemed to have been an effective and engaged governor with a sense of humor.  But none of this really matters because she has been so vilified by the media and that perception has become the reality.  It so clearly illustrated media bias and piling on that even the very liberal John Stewart mocked  this effort.

the point is on the top of my head where its always been.

the rules did not apply to investigating Obama before the '08 election, if they had he never would have won. due to his affiliation with domestic terrorists.

no gripe, just pointing out as I said with 'mild amusement' the differences I see......

I'm NOT an Obama fan.

The FOI act is simply what it's title tells us.

If the Obama opponents didn't use it then shame on them.

If Palin has anything to worry about don't we, the American public, need to know?

SO for your information, and so you can finally know what the bridge was all about, here's the scoop. It wasn't going to go 'nowhere'. It was going to go to the airport, which is in Ketchikan, or rather, across a channel from Ketchikan. The only way over right now is by a ferry. "So why not build it in town?"' some may ask. Well, because 'town' is at the base of a mountain. Shocked
In comparison, it's like disapproving of a tunnel that crosses under Chesapeake Bay, or from Clearwater to Tampa, except that it's in Alaska, which, if you're not FROM there, you have the distinct opinion that everywhere is 'nowhere'.
I lived in Alaska before and while Sarah was governor. She accomplished so much for Alaskans while she was there. Yet, if you're from there, you either loved her, or hated her. I liked her, still do. Saw her at RT in DC. She looks hot on bike.... Grin
