Happy Valve Stem Day!

Today is finally the day I repair the valve stems and get this Valk back road worthy. I ordered the parts. They came in but I haven't had time to work on it.
This morning I had Dad help me put it up on the jack in the shop. He had to leave to do some errands, so I began removing the wheels without him. He always seems surprised when I can but I think that is just a Father thing. The rear valve stem is the one that is leaking, but sine the front isn't newer I decided to replace them both.
Wheels off I borrowed a truck and hauled the wheels to town. I probably can break the bead on the front and do it myself, but the rear car tire puts up a fight. The bike shop that is only open Wed-Saturday was not open despite it being one of the days its open. So, I drove on. I stopped at the next tire shop I passed. They told me they didn't have the valve stems, but luckily I had them in my pocket. After looking at the front rim they were concerned they might crack it on their machine but were confident they could do the back. We discussed that for a moment and finally I agreed. He didn't know when they could get to it. They had several cars and wheels in front of me. I put my wheel in line.
I had a nice lunch at a hole in the wall dinner that was in the same parking lot.
Dad called to let me know he was taking lunch to Mom at work. He did sound surprised that when he stopped by the shop I had already yanked the wheels. It's a Father thing. I don't take his continue surprised personally.
Now I'm back in the shop with a fixed rear wheel ready to lube and reassemble. I can do that myself, but prefer to wait for Dad to come back. If I wait then I can spend the afternoon wrenching with him. I like spending a little pre-Father's Day time sharing the wrenches. It's quality time. The Valk needs very little attention so we don't get much of this sort of time anymore.
So, today is happy valve stem day, or what in my world I use for Father's Day.
I hope ya'll have a good one!
