since I was asking about Valk and VTX perf., here's a story from years ago. We were coming home from Gettysburg(500 mile one way) on I 70. 1982 CBX(bored to 1268), tank bag, tail bag, luggage loaded, tent, sleeping bags,450#'s both of us. I figured around 1200#. We came on 2 new BMW inline 4's(unloaded,1-up), the year the came out or second year. I figured it would be fair. I pulled beside the last one at 80mph, we backed down and let the first get ahead some, I watched his wrist twitch and nailed it, pulled him hard and fast, only took five seconds to see it was no challenge. We done that 4-5 times, then eased up to the first guy, same thing. If they ever told that, what did they say??
About 1 1/2 hours later we are 5 miles from home in a no stop light 35 mph town. I see a drag bike waiting to go my way. On of my friends built this, I don't remember what Suz,Kaw,? struts, bars, no helmets, girlfriend on back. I don't know if Rebecca heard me, but I said, watch this she will beat him to death, the typical girlfriend beats him for taking off loosing her glasses, etc. I stayed in lowest gear at 35 mph and let him come up on my right. At city limits, I nodded. He took off, I shot past him, pulling farther in every gear, then It started to choke and stumble and he gained, I turned on reserve and went on. A week or so later I ran into my friend and he was all bent out of shape, wanted me to bring out that racing bike and he would show me, I told him we would go to the scales and if he weighed 1200 # we would race, my luggage/passenger never got described to him.

My Valk is not as fast as that CBX, but I am wanting to see a "stock" 81,82. We ran 11.3 on a 79 and 12.3/5 on an 80 and 82 in Ohio. I stock one not perfect should be close, they problem is, almost everyone has put '79 cams in them. Stock 80 will be slower.

   Now it's Valk related
