Tonight on my ride to work I had two dim wits in the left lane, just driving along as if it were the “proper” lane to cruise in. then, all of a sudden one of ‘em crosses the right lane to take the exit, of course there was the two flashes of the signal as they barely make the solid white line of the off ramp. Yep, you guessed it, they were on their cell phone just gabbing away. This type of driving ticks me off more then anything!! I wish there was some way I could report them to their insurance company or something!! I remember a website that posted peoples license plate with a comment on how lousy of a driver they are!! I should start keeping a pad of paper and a marker on my fuel tank!!

International trend. Exactly why I'm glad we don't get to "carry" up here, becuse there have been times I wished I had a gun so that I could shoot their tires out. Or the gas tank. Or some bodything. Left lane leisurly lopers. They drive me nuts. Road-rage 101... Maybe it's all the driving I've done in Europe and the middle-east, but the left lane should be cleared after passing. Come to think of it - this rings a bell about another thread about left-laners. That, and the Rectaloids from Uranus who cruise along twisty country highways well below the limit...only to speed up (well ABOVE the limit) when an occasional passing lane stretch comes along. Why not, huh? Feeling safer or something.

It's nutz here. I4 is a combat zone. I was in traffic trying to merge on to I4 which was a parking lot, And there were people running up the shoulder two wheels in the grass to cut in line at the final merge. So I leaned my truck on to the shoulder to block them. It was quite successful until the moron behind me figured it was a good time to PASS ME! He cut me off and left me hanging on the shoulder. Then the super nut behind him starts honking his horn and waving his arms. I figured he just saw what this first nut job did to me... nope... he was pissed that I was trying to get back into line! He tries to shove me back to the grass! I was boiling by that point and turned my truck toward him and hit the gas. He swerved and i had a chance to get in. I was so pissed I couldn't see straight. I can easily see how this could turn into a life altering moment.
but back to the people that think they own the left lane... it's common practice here... most of the time its easier to pass in the "slow lane" because there are fewer cars there...

AIN'T THAT THE TRUETH!!! i've done that on many occasion!! my other favorite one is when there's bridge construction, only on the bridge, and they close one lane about 1/2 mile before the bridge, but sure as you know what, that idiot that's been on your back bumper for the last twenty miles thinks that he's got to get ahead of you at the last second, cuts you off, crosses the bridge then slows down!! oh i love driving!! funny thing is, i've got my CDL with passenger buss endorsments, keep it up to date, and have no desire to ever drive truck (or buss for that matter)

Got this from my old friend MichaelK in ArridZona, makes you wish there were more cops like this one. If you turn on the sound, some of the language near the end is not for young ears, but aside from that the result is amusing. http://www.dailyhaha.com/_vids/get-in-the-right-lane.htm

We used to get on the PA and tell em to get over or get off the Superslab.
Then we watched them from a distance for a few miles.

Somehow, the vision of a Valkyrie, swerving down the highway, with the rider writing on his tank, came to mind.... I know that's not what you meant, but the thought struck me funny... they do it here, all the time, but it's usually texting!!! You can tell by the glow at night - a lot of my riding is at night. I ALWAYS give them a shot of the Stebel, and shake my gloved finger or fist at them. I'm sure a black helmeted, jacketed, gloved rider on a huge machine, might be a little intimidating to the little "daddy's girl" in the new BMW/Honda/Camry, when the Stebel is making it's presence known. Then a brief shake of the head, and off I roar. Gets them every time. I'd say it used to be 90% chickies, but lately it's running 50/50, mostly college age. The older folks are chatting away, one hand on a sandwich, another on the phone, and yet another flailing away, as they describe their day, and the scooter they just missed... R

I pass them in the slow lane. If I recall, in Indiana it's legal, mentions something about if they won't pull into the slow lane, pass them on the right carefully, "you're dealing with a poor driver" Oh yeah.
Unfortunately their vehicle is made for idiots to survive a crash and a motorcyclist is way outclassed both in weight and survivability.
Be careful especially if your BP goes sky high and caution goes out the window.

Have you not heard that the Passing Lane on a 4 lane is now the cell phone lane.
As they talk over in that lane they get slower and slower until almost stopped.
I have talked to a few people that do this and they know they do it.
Just don't seem to care

Who's that here on the forums, that has in their signature, "When you get to the fork in the road, take it!"?
THAT'S the kind of road, that plays hell on my darkside tire, so I try to avoid them. I don't know what I'd do, if I HAD to commute that every day.

I agree totally - on the BP, and your chances for winning against a cager. Indiana, slower vehicles are required to travel in the right lane, and EVERYONE is supposed to use right lane, except for passing slower vehicles. Of course, no one ever pays any attention to the laws... Here's a primer on ALL the state's laws, concerning passing/driving in the right lane: Keep Right LawsAlso, I think most states allow "visual notice" to cars driving slowly in the left lane, then passing on the right. Makes sense - if someone is traveling 50 MPH in the left lane, in a 60 mph zone on a 2-lane each direction road, you can't pass on the right, under any circumstances? Had one this morning - was in the cage, terrible storms. Came up on a car in the left lane, going 30 mph, in a 55 mph zone ( I was comfortably doing 50). Was still doing 30, when I lost sight of them in my mirror. It was as "rush hour" as it gets here, and there were dozens of cars going around them. Still didn't have the sense, to move over. Oh well...

Cuttin' people off. Driving slow in the left lane. Passing on the right. Splitting lanes. Giving the middle finger to others. Yellin' obscenities at the top of my lungs w/-the full helmet on. Speeding through a Yellow signal only to be caught by the slow driver at the next Red signal. Speedin' through a rain storm on Cruise Control. Telling the Cops that I know my rights. Etc...
