Hi guys and gals!
We are back (Westernbiker & Queenbee) from our California coast trip. WOW! What a great time we had as I will show you in some of the pics coming up. A friend of mine  I met in the Navy, his name is Clint, flew out with his wife Bert (Roberta) and rented a motorcycle to do this trip with us. We had a great time, rode I guess about 1300 miles all together. The Big Sur was closed so we had to bypass that using the 101 but got back on the coast highway just below San Fran. I tell ya, if you have never done the coast ride it is worth the trip for sure. Be aware you will probably get a little wet, experience some wind gusts that want to blow you into the next lane and lets not forget the FOG! Yea….well…..ya get past those things and WALA! Great ride. LMAO! Seriously, it is a fantastic trip and you should put it on your bucket list.
I took 175 pics overall but I only selected a few for your viewing pleasure…….well…..maybe more than a few…….yea….there are quite a few but it was so hard to choose which ones to show you.
ENJOY!

First night Ventura hotel on the beach.

On the road headed north.

Nice sun ring.

Rest stop, Clint and Bert.

Yes we had rain but we rode on!

Queen Bee, Bert and Clint at Fishermans warf San Francisco.

Party time in San Fran.

The piano player was great and was getting the crowd involved, here is a group of German bikers singing to some lady at the bar.

Golden gate bridge.

Alkatraz, don't know if I spelled that right.

Connie, (Queenbee)

Me (Westernbiker) We had a nice time in San Fran. and partied quite hard. Next day we were up and on the road.

This is Tony's in Marshall Cal. YUMMY!!!!!!!

Oh yea! B-B-Q oysters!!! Man they were GREAT!!!

The gang.

Some more goodies.

The road north.

Into the fog we go! Could only see about 30 to 40 feet ahead.

Queenbee enjoying the ride and weather. LOL!

This is the house we rented, nice place huh? The place is called Saint Orre's. It's about 50 miles north of bodega bay.

View from second level porch. Cool huh?

They have a five star restaurant so we had to try it. This I believe is a cool tangerine soup with a rasberry sauce. It was tasty.

Hot puree red bell pepper soup.

Peppercorn filet.

Pheasent with some type of rice cake and sauce.

Wild mushroom ravioli.

Clint and Bert had to leave the next day so Connie and I are on our own from here.

Saint Orre's main restaurant.

Now my Bumblebee is broke in. LOL!

After such scenic beauty we had to stop that morning and have some Bloddy Mary's and they were GOOD!
We had decided to stay at this place I believe it was called Timber Cove Lodge. This is the view  from our patio.

Ice cold Bud Light!!!!

We decided to wander arond see if we could get down the cliff. We could a little way but not all the way. Then we happen to find this little jewel part way down the cliff. You could not see what's in the next pic from up top, you had to hike down a ways.

Relaxing!

Queenbee getting ready for take off!

I like this pic.

At the edge.

There she goes again!

AHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Back at the room getting dinner time.

End of a GREAT DAY!

This is what we woke up to. Might be a tad wet today.

Seals enjoying the sun, well, what little there was. LOL!

Time to get going again.

Break time, we stopped for gas for the bike and some fuel for us also. We had a great view!

Well we rode most of the day and stopped in Pismo Beach, here is our view.

We got cleaned up and decided to take a stroll on the beach. It was very nice. Here's connie getting ready to do some beach combing. LOL!

It appears to be a bit on the chilly side.

The rules.

Time to eat. Yummy!

Clam chowder was awsome, not the best we will have, that will come tomorrow, but it was very good. This place did have the best fish and chips though.

The best of the whole trip.

Connie wanted dessert so, well...I gave in.

If you are ever here ya just gotta go!

Next morning time to go.

On the road again.

I think this shot has just about everything.

This shot to GREAT timing, LOL! Pretty good huh?

Done for the day ans Connie says it's beer o'clock.

Best clam chowder is here. This is on the Ventura pier.

Hey, ya better get up here the food is here!

This is next day. We just took a ride around till our next room opened up in Ventura. We planned to spen d a couple of days here but we could not find a room for two nights in a row. So we are just killing time till they finish getting our room ready. We like to spen at least one day NOT riding, just to relax and enjoy, eat and drink!

Finally got our room done, here is our view.

As Joe would say 'MONEY SHOT'

Plenty of time to stroll the beach.

More fish? Ok, I'm ready!

It was a great trip and if you have not done it, it should be on your bucket list.

All good things have to come to an end.

THE END!

Great ride report and pics!

We rode the coast highway up past sea ranch (which is just south of where you were in StOrre)
and the roads were seizure beautiful if you could see them.  Was in an impala and not a Valkyrie unfortunately maybe 4 years ago  Someday I hope to take a 3 or 4 weeks to do it properly on a Valkyrie

Did you go in the water or check out the surfing beaches?

Westerbiker;
CONGRATULATIONS! YES... it is a beautiful trip... You folks out did yourselves. Those are great photos!  Cool

I've done it 'bout ten times from L.A. to San Francisco (425 miles)... shorter if you go the inland route...  ???
Having contracted w/the Feds for over 25 years, I had to travel there once per month. (40 minute-plane ride from L. A.).
The main FED'S offices for the Western states are in San Francisco.  So is the 9th Circuit Court of appeals... tickedoff

Whenever I could, I would ride ... or just drive up. Spending up to one week at a time up in "Frisco,"
it makes sense to have your own ride, rather than renting a vehicle.

Mind you, north of San Francisco it gets even more beautiful as you go!  Lips Sealed
During my last trek I chose the inland route up to Frisco, then continued the coastal route up through the "Avenue of the Giants,"
the states of Oregon and Washington, up into Vancouver and the island of Victoria, Canada.

That's a longer trek, but making it just to the Avenue of the Giants (Northern California) is an out-of-body experience. http://avenueofthegiants.net/   ???

The "Giants" are the mighty tall 3-4K year-old trees clustered around the road.
Nearby is the giant tree that many of you have seen in post cards and such... The one where a car is driving through its roots.

Westernbiker, again, congratulations on your great trip and thank you for sharing the great photos!.  cooldude

Excellent Ride Report Westernbiker!! cooldude cooldude Little did you know that you guys just kicked up my enthusiasm switch a few notches as I'll be heading out on Wed. to L.A., up Hwy 1, (Big Sur is re-opened now), cooldude all the way to Oregons, north side! Whoo-Hoo!

So I practiced Valkyrie packing, got it down smooth and sano now! Kinda tricky when you're carrying an Amp & Guitar!

Michael K:
If you are stopping in LA during the afternoon (2:30 PM-ish), I might meet you somewhere and ride w/you for a while...  Roll Eyes

You probably know that all routes into and out of LA get clogged between 2:00 and 7:00 PM. I usually cut through the Angeles Crest Hwy
route 2 West from Wrightwood to La Canada / Flintrige... 70 miles of beautiful scenery and mild twisties. Light traffic.

Once you get to La Canada, you'd be about 5 miles from me; 12 miles from Hollywood, Dodgers' Stadium and/or Downtown Los Angeles.

We could cruise through Hollywood straight out to the Santa Monica pier. It is right next to Pacific Coast Highway (1).
It goes through Malibu and up into the City of Oxnard.

From there you'd continue on Hwy 101 North (by the beautiful coast) up through Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach and on to San Luis Obispo, Ca.

In SLO you can then pick up Hwy 1 again, passing Big Sur and into Carmel. While in Carmel, visit the HOG's Breath Inn...
founded by Clint Eastwood, former Mayor of Carmel.
http://www.lovetoeatandtravel.com/site/Sfbay/Carmel/Food/hogs_breath_inn.htm

NOTES:
1. Hotel / motels get more expensive as you travel north of L.A., especially through the coast.  tickedoff
2. The closer you get to Oregon, the greater the likelihood of heavy rain.  2funny
3. To enjoy Hwy 1 during day-light, you want to leave SLO no later than noon.  cooldude

Let me know if you want to hook up...  ???  If not possible, have a great trip!

Yup, we gotta hook up while I'm in L.A.
I'll be leaving Phx. at Oh dark-thirty (bout 4) 113 degrees on Wed. Gotta go! Cheesy
Going to Big Mac's house for a fuel line replacement,
[As our bikes get older the petcock may fail and cause problems with the carbs and my cause hydrolock in the engine. Could be very expensive to fix. It's made by Dan-Marc and cost about $38.00 plus some other fittings you can get from a auto supply. You hook it up to one of the coil wires so when the bike is off the valve turns off your fuel.It will also cut off fuel if the bike tips over.]
and this unit! (See SoCal message board)
At the daughters pad Wed night, Th, Fri, Sat & Sun. Mon morn, I'll be heading up the coast, Hwy 1 to Soquel for 2 nights. Then I-5 up north to Or.
I lived and played music in L.A. for 15 yrs, moved to Or. and did the same so I know that the weather can produce suckage at any given moment.
Maybe a trip to the Rock Store on the weekend, I'm pretty much open for anything.

Man-O-Man, great ride report so glad you enjoyed "MY" state.

Quick question, if you ran up headed north from south of San Fransico,,,, then why in the heck didn't you slow down and wave at me because I and about 200 yards off of highway 101?
