Not realy a new  thread but, Q. I remimber some of the thread speeking of VSSS or VSS, not sure now. My Q. is! on the 1998 Valk does the Audiovox cruise control sense the speed from the wheel speed sensor or from the speedometer head wiring. I have had the unit for a long time but never installed it, Am thinking it time to do so. I have picked up some good info from thread by Mellowyellow's thread, for problums later on, if any one has any knowlage to share of what the differance is and if the 1998 can be done like that. any and all comments well come. Neither.  There is no electronic output there, so it is hooked to a coil.

Actually, you are setting the rpm of the engine.  You can shift to a lower gear, and reapply the cruise, and it will set the rpm the same in that gear, so you will be slower.

I hooked one up to my IS about 7 years ago.  Works pretty good for a vacuum type cruise.  Not too great if you are running with others that have electronic cruise controls.  The Audiovox variation in speed is much greater but I an too cheap to spend a grand on an electronic cruise for my valk.
