Going to a nephew's wedding that weekend and should be back late on the 3rd. I'm guessing that you will already have plans for the 4th so if you are around the following weekend (7/9 & 7/10) let's do some riding.

I am working in chicago for a few weeks, live in Ohio.  I have tenative plans to go to Ohio for the 4th but if I dont I will let you know.  I am staying fairly close to Crystal Lake.  I travel with my Valkyrie in tow.  Traffic east of there is horrible so try to avoid going east into the city.  Also The Taste of Chicago will be in full swing and traffic will be a nightmare x 3.

Have a good time at any rate.

Post up some good road/route information. My Valk has been sitting in storage near Waukegan since April when I did an afternoon ride up into southern Wisconsin. Fate has brought me bikeless to the left coast and I get by, bicycling and walking my daughter's demented Boston Terrier.
You get up near us and you bring your lid-i'll ride you into Waukegan. Give us a heads up iffin thats what ya wanna do. I know i know-riders make terrible passengers. 2funny Sitting since april with zero attention??? Well let me or da prez know something. RIDE SAFE.

By very early I am hoping that you mean 5:00am. With the Taste of Chicago, the work on LSD, Wacker Drive and Congress Parkway the earlier the better. And if you are planning on running the drive (one of my favorite rides in Chicago) you need to start from the Museum Campus by the Adler .... great view of the city looking north. When you get to the north end you should take Sheridan Road north, the homes in Winnetka, Kenilworth and Highland Park are worth the ride. Most of the homes on the east side of the road are on the bluffs over looking Lake Michigan.

Sunday, you may want to head over to the Full Moon Cafe ... that's where a lot of bikes go for breakfast ... food is OK but you almost always see an interesting bike or two. The place is located on US41 in the town of North Chicago.

And if you feel really adventourus there is always Lake Geneva, WI.

And then for a little Ice Cream there is a really great place in Hebron on IL-47 at the 4 way stop just south of the WI/IL state line.

And if you are still around the following weekend (7/9 & 7/10) let me know and maybe we can get together and share some wind .... Starve Rock, Galena, Savana, Dixon and a whole bunch of corn fields!

Sounds like a plan ... I'll email you when I get back from Ohio and we can put something together. Maybe some of the other local IL riders might want to join the fun. cooldude
