Checked the obvious culprits.In record time, Kill switch, Battery connects (new battery), Fuse , Visable wiring. Gave the starter a few taps, it allmost started. A'm I looking at a starter. I new I should have cleaned those Brushes.
Two things, first follow the link on the starter switch http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/starter.html and then scroll down to the bottom for the starter relay. Since you said the battery is new, it is possible that it is bad.
You should check it out with a voltmeter and if it indicates a drop to below 11.5V when starting, its bad. It takes 13 volts to start the lady right.
