Friday afternoon "Big Mike" Terry wanted to run his rebuilt and retuned supercharged Valk at Milan Dragway. Mike has helped "TonyZ", "Hyprr Dave", and me on more than several ocassions, so we all came to support his latest effort. He had Hyprr Dave try a few runs to see what he could do. Spinning the CT and hitting the Rev Limiter does not make for the best of run times, but it did get into the 11s. So it wasn't a complete loss of test times and Hyprrs reaction times were some of the best that afternoon/evening.

Saturday ABATE Reg 14 (mostly VRCC members) went to a poker run in honor (RIP) of "John Lonsky". He was my prediscessor as the AMA D14 Road Chairman and also my prediscessor as the ABATE Co-Regional Coordinator and all the funds accumulated were donated to the ALS Foundation of MI. It was a beautiful ride with perfect weather and I got to see some old friends that I haven't seen in months. Some came as far as Windsor Ontario, Canada.

After the poker run we all got together at "Dave Petitt's" house for a bit of target practice with everyone bringing their finest handguns. The end result was enough brass cartridges collected to have a scrap drive.

Sunday, well it was bike maintenence morning. Damselfly and I did some needed cooling system repairs to her GoldWing. Next we tackled the Air Horn replacement on my I/S then checking the tire pressures (hasn't been used since last years INZANE). All accomplished in less than 2 hours, including cleaning and putting away all the tools. So by 12:30 we were ready to test the I/S. I haven't ridden my I/S in 2 1/2 years due to my spinal chord condition. But today was the day to prove that I'm strong enough to again ride my SuperValk. And ride it we did,...159 miles. Me on the I/S and Damselfly on the Rat Rod Valk; she still prefers her GoldWing. But I feel much stronger and I'm now ready to tackle next weekends trip to Chicago.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Thanx Fudgie

The I/S is still my favorite Valk, but the Rat Rod was built as a transitional machine until I became strong enough to ride it again. But the RRV is going to continue to be an ongoing project.

I wish that I kept track of all the miles this weekend. As the RRV was run hard and fast, so the great fuel milage went out the window. Riding with Hyprr and TonyZ will cause one to exceed the speed limits at times by double the suggested limits.

Life is getting better as I get stronger, and I'm also shooting better too!
