Found out our little local airport has cheap flights to Fort Lauderdale. Planning a vaca later this year  and have never been there. Wondering if anyone here lives or vacations there and has any tips on places to go or avoid.
We usually try to stay oceanfront. I see there are about six or seven different beach areas. Any one better than the others? Found a deal on a condo at "Lauderdale-by-the-sea", is that a good area?
Probably going to rent a car and visit the Everglades National Park. Maybe do the air-boat thing.

I believe tank_post142 lives in Lauderdale by the sea.  cooldude
What time of year are you coming down? It's very hot, humid and rainy until around Oct/Nov.  Shocked
You have the Keys, Everglades tours, fishing, both salt and fresh water, the Keys, Casinos, miles of beaches, all kinds of water sports, the Keys, and plenty of night life just to mention a few things.
Everglades National Park is fantastic, you could spend days there and if you go down that far it's not much further to the KEYS.
Did I mention the Keys?

I'm looking at Mid Sept. Didn't book anything yet. The condo is a listing on VRBO.com. We have had good luck using that website for other vacations. It doesn't say the name of the building and I haven't called to talk with anyone about it yet.

Tank, I'll send you a PM with a link to the listing. Maybe you can tell from the pics which building it is. When I get my plans finalized I'll get in touch with you to set up a get together.

Only going to have 7 or 10 days. Probably need to save the KEYS for another time. Be lucky  to cover the beach, Everglades and a casino or two. Don't like to get too many things going on, just relax and look at the water.
