early Springsteen to be exact, I like his later stuff as well 'the river' 'glory days' and such.....

I was in the mood for 'born to run'. i don't know how long he spent writing those lyrics but it was worth every second......

'waste your summer praying in vain, for a savior to rise from these streets
well now I'm no hero that's understood, all redemption I can offer girl is beneath this dirty hood'

'in the tunnels uptown, the rats own dream guns him down
as shots echo down them hallways in the night'

good stuff, his later stuff had great ballads and it had dirt under its fingernails and wore hard hats and work boots. those early tunes were so lyrical and evoked fantastic imagery.

my wife and I went down to jupiter FL for a visit with my brother. he took us by the church where they had the Big Mans funeral.

Love the boss.  I remember when I was in high school a bunch of us drove down to the Jersey shore, partied all night, and slept on the beach.  Woke up the next morning and wandered into this bar on the boardwalk that was packed at 11:30 in the morning.  Grabbed a Bloody Mary and went into the back room where the band was playing.  Alls I could remember was they had this big black guy playing sax and they were singing a song called "Rosalita"....didn't realize till sometime later that it was the boss.

I really like Nebraska.  I think it is some of his best work.  Here's a cut....sit back and enjoy.

I didn't appreciate Springsteen until much later and ironically it was because the band I was in was asked to play Born In The USA for a VFW show. Before bothering to learn the song I'd just thought it was a jingoistic anthem. I didn't realize it was a protest song.

I'm not really wild about all of his work even to this day. For instance, I can't stand 10th Aveue Freeze-out. But how can you NOT like Thunder Road?

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent.
But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent.
Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep.
In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.
