Hello evertbody, I'm trying to do some maintence, and repair on my '98 tourer before going on a long ride to upper MI. next month for a long over-do vacation. I had a leaking #4 carb float valve, which I think I've got corrected (trash), but now I want to check the adjustment of the pilot screws and cannot find the tool for this. Does anybody have one I can borrow, or may-be know of a source? I would rather purchase one, as I plan on keeping this machine forever. I tried Honda-line and no luck. Mark Wade, Bedford Tx

You might have more luck with this on the tech board. If you find where to get one I'd like to know also. Like you, I'm going to ride this thing until the wheels fall off and can't be put back on any more.

Flyboy in Melissa or Patron in Celina... I think either might have the information you seek.

Maybe a misunderstanding, I have the sync. tool/gauges, I need the tool or "driver" for the pilot screws. By the way, if anybody wants or needs to use my gauges, they are free to any member, just bring them back. Or I can do that for you, or I can show you how to do yourself, if your wanting to learn more about your bike. Mark Wade, Bedford TX ps Maybe we could have a "sync. your carbs party" one month? I am an aircraft A/P mechanic, but trust me this is NOT that hard.

Mark,
You need the little adjuster that is basically "D" shaped, right? Don't have one, but Patron might.

The pilot screws that have to be adjusted are done with a phillips screwdriver.
Mr. Bojangles, do you work as an A&P? I own an aircraft maintenance shop at Collin County Regionl Airport.

Yes, the "D" shaped tool is what I'm looking for. I'm trying to adjust the pilot screws. Flyboy is correct the sync screws are just phillips, no problem there, the pilots are idle mixture adjustments. The pilots are the ones which require the "D" tool. Mark Wade

Yessir. right now I am on furlow with Delta, Have worked in GA most of my life, worked for Delta for 9 years. Worked on mostly Beechcraft, Piper,Cessna some Balancia while in GA. We have 6 antique A/C in the family from Aeronca's to Waco's and my wife flys a Cherokee 235. I had way-more fun working in general avation than I ever did working for the airlines, but Delta paid alot better. Work at DFW now for about the last two years for Bombardier, not much fun but close to home and puts gas in my Valk... I keep my two planes at Bonham (FOO) Mark Wade (Mr Bojangles)

I was hoping Flyboy would chime in. He doesn't post much but I know he looks often. Way to go Flyboy. By the way, my wife and I are both VFR pilots but haven't flown for a few years. We had a Cherokee 235 also. IO 540 Lycoming engine. Maybe that's why I fell in love with the Valkyrie. Both of those horizontaly opposed six cylinder engines have such an intoxicating sound... nearly hypnotic... Mmmm.

Yeah me too, I really want to buy one rather than barrow, I hate to barrow anything. Somebody has to know where to buy. Another problem, about 1/2 of these screws are so corroded that they wont turn. Just found that out with a makeshift tool I made out of brass on the lathe. Soaking them with penitrating oil right now. Hope something turns up soon, leaving for Mi. in three weeks,,,well maybe not. Honda Directline carries it... http://www.directlineparts.com/byProduct.asp?prd=Tools&str=2&ID=168972726Expensive though. Also, check the national tech board...I seem to remember somebody knowing how to make them easily (adapting another tool) Hope that helps!

Don't think that is the 'D' shaped tool........... I think that one is a Phillips head. I found one I think it was Dennis Kirks, mant many moons ago. Tried to find it on his website, but no luck. The one I got has a handle, long flexible spring and the 'D' link on the end......
