Cooper closed down the Albany GA plant over two years ago. Now only make tires in Tupelo MS, Ohio and China.

I have ran many sets of Cooper tires over the years.
I have found them to be very good tires.
One of the things that I like about them is that I have always gotten whatever mileage out of them that they were rated for.

Michelins.... IF you can stand the price. BFG truck tires.... Last forever but ride like a log wagon. Might not be good for the "woman truck" SUV. Not impressed with BFG car tires. LongTrail series are the truck tires I'm referring to. Kumho car tires.... so far, so good, ride much like Michelins. My experiences.

I put a set of Cooper ATR's on my Jeep last winter. LOVE 'em!! I can't say the same for Goodyear or Michelins. Had both, didn't like 'em. YMMV

I ran three sets of Coopers on my last truck with mixed results -- '98 Dodge Ram 2500. Liked the first two sets, but my last set had out of round problems and one tire separated at about 25,000 miles.
It got bad for my tire guy, too. He stopped carrying Coopers about the time I bought my current truck -- '07 Dodge Ram 2500. He couldn't get Cooper to stand by their product.
The current truck has the Michelins that were put on at the factory. 66,000 miles and counting.

Always had good luck with Michelin's on my P/U. Always got the advertised mileage outta them, too.
Haven't ever had a set of Cooper's.

Michelins.... IF you can stand the price. I agree to this. Just spent $1300 on Michelins tires for my PU. Last truck I had the Michelins had over 40K and still looked like they could go another 40K easily when I traded it. BFG truck tires.... Last forever but ride like a log wagon. Might not be good for the "woman truck" SUV. Not impressed with BFG car tires. LongTrail series are the truck tires I'm referring to. I'm glad to hear these last forever because I put Long Trails on my Trail Blazer 5-6K miles ago. However I am very pleased with the ride. Way better than the factory Goodyears. Maybe I just got a good set.

instead of spending the money on the coopers, look at coopers truck line. the definity dakota ht. same tread pattern 30$ less per tire and a 100$ rebate at teh register for them. Ive sold hundreds of sets of these and never ha a complaint. and also, never had a problem with cooper standing behind their tires. never. so, im just saying, look at the dakotas beore you buy and get the rebate.

+3 on Michelins . I'm on a second set on my one ton pickup. The first set on the F350 were very good but for the second set I found a shop that uses the Hunter RoadForce Balancing system and that made it drive like a brand new one again. My Sweeties' Grand Vitara (all wheel drive) had them on it when it was rear-ended and totalled. YMMV, but on the Grand Vitara, which is about the same size as a Sorento, the tires had about 40,000 miles and still had half their tread! When the Coopers on her Ranger wear out the plan is for Michelins on it as well. The old saying "You get what you pay for." seems to really apply to Michelins.

I've chewed through five sets of run flat tires on the Mini since 2005... I swear I think Carolyn has had the same Michelins on her Civic since before I got the Mini... for a long time, anyhow... -Mike

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Radial+Long+Trail+T%2FAI have these on my 2007 Nissan Murano and love them. They ride very good, have great traction in all weather conditions, and look good. I don't remember what I paid for them...but they were reasonable. Joe

IMHO, if you want good road tires, you can't beat Michelin LTX's. I bought a truck once that had a set on it with 60k on them and put another 30k on it before they got down to 3/32nds.
For allterrains, I've had good luck with BFG's. my last set wore out prematurely due to a horrible alignment problem.
I've never owned a set of Goodtear triple treads, but Have heard alot of good things about them as a great all season tire.

Hey Steamer...just saw on TV that Discount Tire is having a 4th of July weekend sale...$100 off any set of 4 tires or wheels...might be worth a look for price comparison if you have one in your area...

Both sets of BFG LongTrails I have had were on Ford Rangers which aren't known for their ride quality! Love the tough little Rangers but they do ride rough regardless of tire choice.

Stanley, you need tires on that KIA already. How firkin many miles you got on that mother now?
Michelin, good wear, but rough riding.
Cooper, I've had 6 sets on my Trike in 207k+ miles. Right now it has some Chinese brand. Dealer got screwed up on what tires went on what vehicle.
I went in to pick up the Trike, spotted these odd balls, raised hell and walked out the door with a free set of tires. All it cost me was the wheel balance.
So far not too good of mileage on the tread, so I'll be going back to Cooper's on it.
My Brother-in-Law runs Michelin's on his cab. With many many different drivers, those tires catch hell but they keep right on clickin, just like the little pink bunny.
It does have a severe ride on that big ole Crown Vic.
Good luck in whatever ya get.
