I have a question regarding the 4050 peg set for those of you who have them.
I was trying to follow the instructions to put the tiny little roll pins into the mounting for the actual footrest, and I lost one of those little buggers trying to get it in the hole that is too small. And I don't feel that 'drilling' the hole out of a new part is a good answer. (It's a fast way to drill through my hand).
I've had dually pegs before on a different ride, and I never had those little pins, the hooked straight up into the clamp. Are these critical, or are they just there as a safety nuisance as determined by some lawyer so that the peg doesn't end up coming loose and angling down and they get sued when someone corners too hard and high-sides?
I'm not that mechanically inclined, but these really look like a solution for a problem that doesn't exist if you keep the bolts tight.
Thanks.

I have mounted about 3 sets on various Valks. What I found to work the best is hold it above the hole with a needle nose plier. Squeeze the roll pin and I tap it in with a small tack hammer.
Didn't have to drill any.

Thank you for the reply. Since I dropped/lost one, and since these appear to be superfluous, would I be making a huge mistake by not using them? I appreciate your opinion on this, and I do not hold you liable if the world ends by my leaving them out.

Ok, I'll get a new one (or a few for spare) and suffer through getting them installed with my hamfists.
I need to get a bigger Allen Wrench for the swing arm bolts anyway. I thought Kury was a metric company, but it appears they are standard, and my 10mm is just a touch too big.

you should be able to find roll pins all day long in almost any size in the specialty drawers at Lowes, Home Depot or ACE.

I recall having some problems with the pins too. If memory serves me, I think I used a pair of large slip joint water pump pliers to press them into the hole. Line up the pin using needle nose pliers and press them in.

I'd be willing to bet that if you contacted Kuryakyn customer service they would be willing to send you one free of charge. http://www.kuryakyn.com/Customer-Service.aspx

I think this has been answered...the hole for a roll pin will always be smaller diameter than the pin. Second, I have found Kuryakyn products will have both metric and SAE screws/bolts. That is why I carry a set of both style allen wrenches.
