...I may have gotten off on the wrong foot with a few of you guys. Now, while we have differences of opinion I'm not trying to upset you. It's just that I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a smartass and sometimes it comes off as being more abrasive than I intend. It can be hard to convey my humor in spoken word alone. But it's all (okay, well MOST of it) in humor.
I mean even I have my limits where I'll take a serious side in an argument, but they're pretty few and far between. I just want you guys t know that I'm not here just to piss people off. It just kinda happens when I talk sometimes.

i think that is the 1 thing that is wrong with posting, you know how you meant it, i know how i read it. then i go back and read something a second time,,,,,"oh thats what they meant" i fight posting a lot when it comes to things that have already gone on the rampage.

I've noticed that you don't allow an argument degrade into a personal attack.
While I don't always agree with what you say, It is a point taken for consideration anyway.

It just kinda happens when I talk sometimes. It appears you're getting a lot of positive feedback in this thread. Just to keep things balanced I'll give you my frankly honest (and marginally official) response.
Yes, you definitely did.
My impression is that it's almost true that "nobody likes a smartass". A lot of people will laugh at the class clown, but it gets old really quickly.
I didn't mean to hasn't been a valid defense since third grade. We are, in fact, responsible for what we intend, but we are also responsible, often, for what we did that we didn't intend.
Ridicule is disrespectful 100% of the time. Ridicule qualified by, "I was only joking," is still ridicule and is still disrespectful.
A lot of new people introduce themselves with a post that goes something like, "Hello, I'm new and here's a picture of me with my Valkyrie." People seem to really like that. New people who introduce themselves with, "Hey, I'm new and I'm here to straighten out all you idiots," are seldom well received.
Pacing yourself would be a good practice. A message board, at least this message board, is a lot like a large gathering with several conversations going on. In such a gathering I don't try to participate in every conversation, and within those conversations that I do choose, I try to listen more than I speak.
As to pissing people off, you managed to irritate me enough that I had conversation with two of my colleagues who convinced me not to do what I proposed as best. I hold the option open.
I hope you'll seriously take the opportunity to make a new and different start.

Hi and Welcome to the family Your posts did not particularly bother me but to be honest, I dont remember what your position was in any of them. Nothing personal I just dont remember Having a good forgetter and letting stuff roll off my back is a positive in my business which is not just looking for secretaries It took a lot of willpower not to post a secretary pic here but I didnt I have a 2001 Interstate the very stately black and pearl beige This is my bike There usually is not a horse sitting on it Now you know why they call this board the sandbox

Well, Anvil, I'd have to say you're off to a great start! I've been called to the Principal's office a time or two, myself! It seems bad to ruffle the feathers, of some of the "long time posters", even if they deserve it. And be prepared for some pretty "smart-ass" remarks from THEM, as well, that will seem to go unnoticed, or even hailed. Just the ways of the boards, here. I have gotten side-messages, calling me to task because I pissed someone off, who's been here years, yet it never seems to bother anyone, when they piss ME off, by ignorant, smart ass remarks. Not sure why... I've seen a LOT of your posts, if not all, and haven't seen anything that has been too far out of the norm, other than a LOT don't agree with them. That makes them suspect, in a lot of eyes. But don't worry, there are others here, that DO like what you say, and understand where you are coming from. Keep it up - just don't ruffle the wrong feathers, TOO awful much.... ....Give some of us others a chance. R

Anvil,
There are two other individuals that regularly place an opposing view to the traditional view point of this board. I personally enjoy their posts mainly because I was brought up to see things from another point of view then my own. Sometimes you must look around, behind, from above or from below to truly understand the works of an artist. Case in point; if you ever get the opportunity to see some of Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures in Florence Italy you will see some of the options he considered for his sculpture. You can not see those things from the front, but unless you walk behind the work you can not truly understand his point of view. That is the same view I personally have with people. Each one of us are different pieces of art, each have had experiences that make up who we are as an individual. The more experiences, the more rounded we are. The more interesting of a conversation we convey.
And by the way, don’t EVER worry about ticking people off. What you’re doing is forcing them to think outside their box.
Oh, by the way, I ride a Red/Black Interstate with over 200 LED’s.
Alberto.

Sometimes it's necessary. I just don't want anyone thinking that all I'm here for or that I want to personally offend them.

I'm thinking thin skin on those offended. Read all your posts and find them way less offensive than many. Was very disapointed that a tongue in cheek comment you made about the board was so over-reacted to. If we lose the ability to poke fun at ourselves, I think we become a bit sour.

The main problem with posting here is that you don't see the visual reaction to your post. Thanks, Anvil, for your comments. You are very welcome here.
My postings really shouldn't matter anymore as I am no longer riding a Valkyrie after 13 years of ownership.............and I'm one of a few old crotchety geezers still hanging here because of the good people in the VRCC.
