Ok so I added a trunk rack for the wife to be able to carry whatever (mostly) she wants when traveling. She has NEVER sat on my bike in the almost 5+ years I have owned it, some kind of hatred or regret we bought it. Anyway she got on and even took a ride with me, I did notice she was a little squished up between the Corbin saddle and the Corbin driver backrest and the Corbin trunk mounted back rest. I would like to move my trunk back a little bit for her has anyone done this?

I figure move it up about 1/2" give her a little more back support and then also move it backwards about 1" to give her little bit more belly room between her and the driver back rest.
Figure I need to make some brackets or stepped mounts for the trunk.

Any ideas anyone? I am thinking something real simple like a 4 equal sized blocks with a step so one bolt points down and uses the original mount hole in the original mount then another hole with a  bolt pointed upwards toward the bottom of the I/S trunk using the holes that are already in the trunk base.

Thanks,
Matt

If you are going to be loading heavy I would not move it back much.  You might want to look at thinning the back rest pad.  You don't need much cushion so you could lose maybe an inch right there.

First, my drivers backrest is removable and I need to remove it when my wife goes for a ride with me.

As for relocating the trunk, since my mounting brackets where bent when I got my wrecked IS back, I was looking at making new cross brackets. I can't remember exactly, how they are made, but looking over the fische helped.

The back one you might be able to get away with some metal tubes as spacers and longer bolts.

The front bar would be harder, 1/2" x 1/2" tube. I don't think you can move the nuts in the mounting brackets, but a 1 1/2" x 1/2" might mount to the original nuts on the bracket, and then drill and add new nuts to where you want the trunk to rest.

You can't do anything about that front mount in the trunk, unless you make up a new one piece or cut off the old one.

Once you have it off it becomes intuitive. You'll need a bit of tubing or a bushing and longer bolt for the front one into the seat-lock frame (I wouldn't want to lose that anchor) and 1" is about all you'll get before running out of back seat.

Life gets much better in relation to the happiness of the female housemember.

Well this task is almost completed,,, got it moved up 1" and back 1".
I found some square tubing that had holes in it every inch on the inch. I cut two long pieces and used some steel washers stacked on soem rubber washers for the front then I cut a short section to attach to the bracket at the fron of the trunk that attaches behind the passenger seat below the back rest.
I still need to add some support under the trunk at the original locations that were previously fully supported. Then a bar needs to run across the back side of the trunk to support it and also fill in the blank spot along the top of the cross bar that the helmet locks attach at and also the trunk release handle bumps up against...

I will get back on here later to ight and post up a few pictures of the material used and the finished project... I think it looks just about perfect and the wife will be MUCH more comfy now.

Now I am looking at mounting one of those real thin low profile subwoofers under the trunk were the CB would normally mount???? Maybe maybe maybe.

Don't forget that you don't need the latch to open the trunk, just the key.

Yep, I actually remembered it and showed the wife the under trunk handle and she was like WOW! COOL!

Before lift and slide,

After lift and slide,

And yes I did recently add the trunk rack and the saddle bag top rack/rails, trust me worth EVERY penny. The wife really likes the storage and space I have added for her to be more comfortable...

I would say so!! After all, you DID mention this:  "She has NEVER sat on my bike in the almost 5+ years I have owned it, some kind of hatred or regret we bought it.". Anyone that holds a grudge like that, for 5 years, is BOUND to chase someone down!!
