ST Petersburg, FL

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner announced today the cause of death for Randy Poffo, better known as "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

The autopsy revealed that Poffo had an enlarged heart with severe atherosclerosis of his coronary arteries. Atherosclerosis occurs when the development of fat in the coronary arteries turns to calcium, blocking the arteries.

Poffo was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Largo Medical Center on May 20 after becoming unresponsive while driving his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle that left the roadway and collided with a tree in Seminole.

The medical examiner ruled out the collision after seeing only minor abrasions and bruising of the skin as a result of the accident.

Toxicology results showed that alcohol had nothing to do with Poffo's death or accident.

The cause of death was officially Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease, and therefore, Poffo died from natural cause.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.
