The fronts are 4-1/2" and the rear speakers are 4". At least that is what was in my 2000 Interstate.

You will find your choices to be limited when looking for 4-1/2" speakers. I found the JM speakers for a 1800 goldwing to be a very good choice. I also installed a 400W amp and flush mount tweeters in the fairing. The factory stereo only has about 15 watts output, so a small amp will do wonders for the system.

Fairing speaker Stock is 4.25 inches. Very hard to find.

I installed Audiobahn ACS2040N 4inch 2way speakers in the fairing to replace the stock and then JB welded even larger ones (Sony Xplod 220Watt 4-WaySpeaker) above the headlights inside the fairing.

See pictures in the link.

I am planning on doing this upgrade soon... the guide on the delphi forum is a good guide for the rears.

What about the front speakers? Is changing out to the Polks pretty straightforward or is their custom work to do to get them to fit? Thanks.

How hard is it to install a small amp in the fairing?  Is there a good place to mount one?  They make them so small now it looks like you can use velcro to mount them with....figure if I'm going to install new speakers, may as well do it all at one time!
