there is not an oil temp light on the bike,, there is an oil pressure light...
take the wire off the oil pressure thingy on the motor and ground it,, if the light comes on then replace the oil pressure sending unit,, if it doesnt come on then there are other problems,,

Is is temp or a pressure indicator....anyways, if you mean its not coming on with the ignition.....the oil light and the side stand light should light up as soon as you turn the key.  Maybe the bulb is blown.

I believe y'all are talking about the light that doesn't come on on either my Red and White nor
Wimp's Red and White... I'm glad to know they really are supposed to work...

My meter lights work so poorly in general that I can't see jack about my speed or anything
when it is after dark...

Need to be clear which light you are talking about on the standard. The temp light does not come on with the key. It only comes on if you overheat. The sidestand and oil pressure DO come on with the key (assuming the sidestand is down).

Sidestand down light?  Did not know there was such a thing.  Not on the IS anyway.

I thought so but I checked.  The water temp light comes on when the switch is turned on.

On a standard/tour.  The light to the far left.  (water temp) can only come on if the water temp is too high.  It doesnt come on with the ignition, so if that is the "problem" its now fixed  Wink

Yep, like some of the fellas say, the far left light[ coolant temp] does not come until the engine is too hot..
Regarding the instrument lights, the standard lights are about 2 watts.. Replacements can be::
#158, 3.3W
#161, 2.7W
#194, 3.8W
#168, 4.9W [some have had the chrome blister from too much heat]
