I thought the classifieds were to be moved starting the beginning of May this year.  Yet now we have two sets of classifieds to check or post to if you are selling.  Whats the story?  Did I miss something?

I thought the same thing.  Did someone change their mind and leave the old one up?

All the links on the VRCC sites should be pointing to the new VRCC Classifieds.  People who stored the old url in their favorites, or find it by google search can still get to it.

We haven't yet dismantled or redirected the old site, but I wouldn't use it.  The scammers can still find it as easily as you do and in fact, we have a hacker or two who still hacks into someone's member info and posts bogus ads.

The short answer is if you want to sell to or buy from members who use the VRCC message boards, then use the new VRCC Classifieds.  If you want to sell to the world at large or buy from people who are associated with the VRCC exclusively to post ads on the old Classifieds then continue to go to the old location.

It is my firm belief that when the dust settles the old software will go away or go somewhere else, but that's a discussion that is still underway.

The problem is that 6 items were posted on the old classifieds yesterday, July 6th.

So, as the OP said, I now need to check TWO classifieds everyday for new listings.  The old classifieds cannot be deleted?

I would think that you could just deny total access to the other site?  Unless its somehow linked to the archives?

It's not a technical issue and we will resolve it in time.

I demand this issue be resolved swiftly, or I may be forced to demand a full refund for my VRCC membership.  tickedoff tickedoff 2funny 2funny

I think a ton may be a bit of an exaggeration, but, yes, there are a bunch.  The important point is that you can glance to the left and tell how active the poster has been on the message boards.

Incidentally, a low post number is not necessarily a guarantee that the person joined just to post his ad (although that certainly is a possibility).  We do have a lot of members of the VRCC community who read regularly but seldom or never post.

I think it's a plus that we know more about the poster in this format than we were able to know in the old format.

Dave, I've consulted with some of my colleagues.  It's not likely we'll resolve this issue swiftly and we are unable to refund your past dues.  We have agreed, however, to cut the amount of your dues in half for the upcoming two years.  I hope that action will sufficiently redress the wrong done you at the carelessness of our hand.

And that is different from the old classifieds, how?

At least here those 1 post people were screened to make sure they aren't from (insert your favorite scammer filled country), and their info was checked against an ever growing list of known bad apples.  Believe it or not, we spend more time than you can even fathom trying to keep this place free of spammers/scammers.  In the last few weeks we have rejected 2800 registrations for the message board because they are verified spammers.  So far, none have sneaked past us.  Not saying they can't or won't...but we take it very serious.

Woooooh, was not complaining about the new Classified as I like it and have stated that in other threads on the subject. It was just an observation. Ton or bunch it's a lot of not a few but 1 post people. Again just an observation, not a condemnation. I do appreciate ALL you guys do!! Easy folks.............
