Found this on a Delphi MC Trailer Towing forum. Looks like Harbor Freight is offering a Car/MC Trailer. Looks a lot like the Piggybacker and is at a pretty good price. If you get the Harbor Freight coupons (sometimes 20%) would get you down around $350. I would modify the fenders to be able to put 12" wheels on it, and I would extend the tongue... other than that, looks pretty good!

There add says it has a 45 mph towing speed. It would take a long time to get to Colorado at that speed.

From my understanding that's why it would need 2 conversions. A longer tongue extension bar and larger wheels (12"). Then it's safe for higher speeds.

Santa, has ya ever pulled a U-Haul trailer?

Ya look in the rear view mirrow and you can read, 45 MPH on the fender.

That is just a thing to get their butt out of trouble for someone who wants to sue cause the trailer put em in the ditch......

Your probably right Jabba, for leagle purposes, those d$m lawers anyway.  cooldude
But theres away around that for folks like us, all you have to do is run 90.
When it comes to your claim in court, just expain to the judge that honestely you
where only going 45 mph. (90 devided x 2 for the wheels on the trailer = 45   2funny

It's the same reason that a dog leash that looks like it could double as a tow rope in an emergency is rated for "dogs up to 35 pounds".  Just in case something breaks (and S*** does happen, you know), they can't be sued for it.

The 45 mph thing is just a CYA, like all others have advised. ALL Harbor Freight trailers come with that warning in their instruction manuals. I have a Harbor Freight that I pull behind the motorcycle all day "just a tad" over 45 (about 25-35 "tads" over) on the highway with never a problem.

As far as needing 12" tires and a longer tongue to be able to go over 45 mph... again, there are 8" tire-ed trailers out there that run thousands of miles at 60-80 mph without a problem.  The greater tongue length and larger tires make it tow better, but are not absolutely necessary.

12" or 8", either way, what I did, and what everyone should do with these HF trailers is to get the grease off the bearings and repack with a better quality grease. I went a step further and changed out the bearings to Timken's in the hopes of ending up with a higher quality bearing than what I am sure were originally on the HF. I figured it's cheap insurance with the important moving parts.

On my website, there is a page about the HF trailer and towing with it, including the Timken part #:

Remember, I am not an expert... YMMV
