Chet has a diagram for unloading the start switch.  The blue/white wire from the dimmer switch hooks up to the relay post 87, and the blue/white wire from the starter hooks up to the trigger 86.  In the headlight shell, how do you tell what end of the blue/white wire is what?

Unplug the blue/white wire at the bullet connector in the headlight shell.  Use a volt meter with the key on.  With the red probe on the bullet and the black probe touching ground (the inside of the shell should do, or stick it in one of the green connectors) check each side of the bullet connector.  The side that shows 12 V is the side that comes from the start switch.
