I've camped off of the A1A in Daytona, which is only a short hop into Orlando. That is as close as I've gottten camping to Orlando.

Jess, do a Google search for Kissimmee camping.  There are more options in this part of "Orlando"  Good luck

Carowinds (a theme park on the NC/SC line) has a neat little camp ground behind the park. The campground is small, but well shaded, and has a pool, putt putt, and arcade for the guests as well as discount admission to park packages and a shuttle service into the park. I've camped there and made a weekend out of Carowinds in the past and had fun.

I searched the Disney site and found that it looks like they have something similiar.

You didn't say what you were going to look at in Orlando, but a camping resort might be worth checking into if Kissime isn't the part of Orlando you're aiming at.

It's in the SE section of the Orlando area and is near main tollroads for easy access in any direction. That area is growing fast, a lot of it is new within the last 3-5 years. I've lived here over 42 years and that area used to be nothing but wilderness...not now. If you have any questions about the area, shoot me an email; stuffy402@aol.com and I'll give you my phone number.

If you're interested, the yellow pages have nearly 40 locations in the Orlando metro area, that would be roughly a 30-40 mile radius. I could try burning a copy and faxing it, not sure how the "yellow" would reproduce but can try if you want.

There is a nice little campground right off Hwy 17/92 just north of Sanford (which is just north of Orlando) right on the St Johns river. It has a camp store, playground for kids, boat ramp, etc. They offer primative camp sites for tent campers as well as RV sites. The name escapes me but if you're interested give me a shout and I will find out for you. There are quite a few in the area depending on where you want to stay.

Here's a site that lists most of the more popular ones in the area but the smaller ones are not listed.
