How many of you have ever been to a pig roast where the pig has been cooked in the ground?

We are so excited about this particular activity this year at Inzane that will be taking place over at Schuss Village where Ivan's is located!  cooldude  The charity, Camp Quality is sponsoring this event for us, as well as providing the food!  The menu for this night is:  Pig (of course), Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob, Red Skin Potatoes, Dessert as well as a water and soda.  The cost will be $10 per person for the meal.  (The entire $10 is going to the charity)  Tickets for this event will be available at the registration table.

In addition to the pig roast, the pool will be open fur us to use over at Schuss Village (Ivan's), Shanty Creek will run shuttles back and forth for those that would like to shuttle, AND Shanty Creek will be offering lift rides for $5 per person to the top of the mountain and back down.  Shanty Creek will be giving 50% of the proceeds from this to the Charity! In the event of inclement weather, this event WILL still take place and we will just move inside (as they have also offered us the use of Ivan's since it is closed at that time)

You don't want to miss this one!!!!

Been to several pig roasts in my sheltered lifetime and have ALWAYS enjoyed the food.  If you've never seen one it's very interesting to watch.  The price is EXCELLENT too -  $10  !!!!   I've paid a lot (4-5x) more than that at some of the others I've attended.  And, the $5 ride to the top of the mountain would be a treat also.  I've taken that ride during the winter months during ski season and have always enjoyed the view.  I can only imagine how nice it will be in the summer.

SHOULD BE A GREAT EVENT AND FUN TIME FOR ALL  !   Smiley

On a side note, when I spoke with Ruthie this morning, the temperature there was 66 degrees with an expected high of 82 degrees today (which she said was hot for them) !  That sounds like IDEAL weather to me!!!

....weather right now in...Northern Michigan..is incredible...was a cool rainy spring but last week we finally "broke out" into the "80,s".....up hear being in the 80,s is a whole different animal....there is usually little or no humidity...cool breezes....sky is deep blue and the back roads go on forever...feels like one looooooong spring..

...and its no coincidence that you see so many...out of state plates..roaming around here in the summer...especially from southern states where its baking right now....like Kid Rock sings...Northern Michigan Summers Rock !  Cool

....Chili and I are looking forward to the pig roast...was at one a long time ago...but I can still taste that most excellent pork..  cooldude

On a side note...last time I tried to get to Ivans I ended up riding my Valk on a golf cart path. I think Solo1 did the same in his Miata...

So...a map to Ivans with the tickets may be a good thing (or a permission slip to use the golf cart paths, either way Smiley )

Not with a pig, but with beef roasts.  Did it for my parents 25th anniversary, oh so many years ago!  We dug a hole here on the farm, like 8' wide, and 16' long, 4 ' deep.

We burned wood in it all day, to get a deep bed of coals.  Then, wrapped the roasts in foil and wet burlap, along with onions, spices, etc. and placed them in the coal.  Then, covered the pit with all that in it thru the night into the next AM.

Dug it all out.

GREAT!

Some have been looking for directions to the areas of Shanty Creek, Here is a link to a PDF file that shows all the roads and locations in the resort.
