anybody here have a mustang seat on their interstate with a drivers backrest. if so does the back rest fold forward so the passenger can get on and off easier and how do you like it..i was going to buy a russell day long..just can't justify parting with 1,200 bucks..mustang would be around 700.

I had one on mine when I got it, yes it had a backrest and I recall that it folded forward. It was comfortable but kinda slick... in that I would slide forward when coming to a stop. I got the Ultimate which has a cushion that helps prevent that.

Mustang seats are harder than a brick.
My choice in sequence.
Russel Daylong
Ultimate
Stock w/Sheepskin
Plain stock 2000 up.
Plain stock 1997-1999
Mustang
However, it is your butt and your $$$ so spend it however you like the feel.
This is just my humble opinion.
Cheers.

I bought the Mustang to get a Back Rest for long trips.
Should have just bought a back rest for the stock seat(Utopia) would have been better.
Mustang ain't bad.
But a lot of people like the Ultimate for the memory foam.
The absolute best I am told is the Russell Day Long, because it is built for you and you alone.
That kinda kills the seat for resale value, but your butt and back will thank you.
Don Highbinder said if he has to he would mortgage the farm to get one if that was the only way.
Land Elephant said for his Pachaderm Posterior, the Day Long is the bomb(GOOD SEAT).

Yes, the backrest folds forward and is removable... love my mustang; put 16k miles on it in MIchigan Summer 2010 (but I do ride on sheepskin)

I am a big fan of the mustang seats. This is my 2nd (different bikes).
They are firm, but I like that.
I'm surprised at the votes for the stock seat. Most uncomfortable POS I've sat on since the stock seat on my Suzuki. That thing would let me only go 60 miles before it felt like someone cracked my tailbone with a lead pipe.
I'm a rather large mammal, so the backrest and the weight distribution of the mustang really helps.

Allen at Mean City Cycle did my seats and was very pleased! I had the double decker front and rear for just $210.00! It ghas 2" memory foam and he can place you foward or back. Might be worth checking out.
