I've had a Garmin Zumo 550 for a few years (Since they were brand new) and still love it... And, with the Zumo 660 on the verge of coming out, you can prolly find the 550's lower in price (Or find 'em for sale used as people upgrade to the shiny new 660)

Don't know about the 2720 but I picked up a Garmin Quest, refurbished, last year and I think it is excellant. Acording to Garmin it is waterproof and after the rain I rode through in Oregon I am convinced it is waterproof. Isn't a touch screen but the buttons are of a reasonable size unless you are wearing big bulky gloves ... and even then it isn't too bad. I run off the battery which is suppose to have a 24 hour life and so far that looks to be the case.

Hope that helps.

My Zumo 660 will be at my house on the 30th according to my order page.

That being said...if you are a member of the AMA you can get 20% off the price of the Zumo 660 on the Garmin web site which makes it $647 after shipping.

I picked up a 2720 on Ebay for 115.00 US and its designed for motorcycles  (waterproof) with a touch screen. It was refurbished but all that means is they didn't sell it and was discontinued. It looked brand new in the box. It doesn't have a built in mp3 player but I have an Ipod hooked into the aux plug anyway. A Garmin 2820 has all the bells whistles but at a fraction of the cost. They cost 800 new but you could get one now for about 240.00.

I've got the Zumo 550 and really like it.  Hasn't died from the many, many miles of rain last year.

You may want to check out the Zumo 660.  Just wait a few weeks till there are some real world reviews.

Garmin Zumo 450!
Don't need any audio components, I have 2 Bros. 6X6 pipes, can't really hear tunes or someone giving me a jingle. I'm happy enough listening to me twisting the wick! coolsmiley

Tom Tom One LE, has MP3 and is bluetooth compatible, touchscreen (so no buttons), and I put a sandwichbag on it if there is a chance of rain.  They were about $120.00 last year.

One other point when pricing 'em... The Zumo's (And some others, I'm sure, but I'm not familiar with those) come with motorcycle mounts, so be sure to take that into consideration in your comparisons...

Zumo 550.  Worth every penny I paid, and I'd pay it again.   If you have an I/S, you can hook up the GPS audio out to I/S AUX input and you have an MP3 player and turn by turn directions through the I/S audio system.  (installed an extra memory card for the MP3's)

If you want to get crazy, you can get a complete integration kit for the I/S which allows you to do the bluetooth thing with your phone right through your I/S headset.  Pharmboy did that with his...

When I bought my Zumo 450 last year, I thought that I didn't need the bluetooth, but since have decided that I should have gone with the Zumo 550.... as with the rest of my other hobbies, I will have to now pay twice because I didn't go ahead and get what I really thought I should have gotten in the first place. The 550 also has a few other features that would probably be worth the money over the long haul.

On the other hand the Garmin 2720 is a very good receiver, I know a couple of other guys that have them and they love them.

Good Luck!

I have a Nuvi 760 , I know it's not waterproof..But I just deal with it, If it looks like rain I bring a baggie with me. I like the larger screen myself 4.3" vs the 3.5". Also you can pick them up for around $250.also picked up all the mounting goodies from cyclegadgets.com (Ram mounts). I have not had any problems at all.
If your wondering about Garmins models checkout their website. (Garmin, com).

Good Luck!  Once you start using these new gps units it hard to go back to a paper map  crazy2

This past winter I ordered the Garmin 2720 refurbished for $170.00 some how they shipped a "New" 2730 which is identical except the 2730 comes with the GMX 30 XM antennae. Since they kinda screwed with me for several weeks I just couldn't muster up the heart to inform them of their mistake. Wow, Garmin's suggested retail on that antennae is $265.00 and was always packaged with the 2730.

The StreetPilot 2720 appealed to me with the features I wanted, including weather proof and being discontinued is very reasonably available either refurbished w/ full warranty or new.

I have the voice directions piped through to my headset as well now as the unplanned XM. The screen is readable in direct sunlight and although the unit measures deeper then most GPS's these days, it doesn't interfere where I have mounted it.

I have a Garmin 2730 and a 2820 and have been very happy with both. I have the RAM ball mounted under the chrome center piece on the handlebar facing down and forward. With the 3 inch domawhatchy the GPS will sit nicely on the chrome center piece.  It makes it a little hard to see the neutral light and high beam light but I can count my downshifts and I can tell the difference between hi and low beam.

I have a Garmin Quest and like it, except for the fact that I have to load the maps for where I am riding.  I picked it up used just to see if I would like a GPS...now I rarely leave without it.  The Quest 2 (which is what the guy I bought mine from had upgraded to) has all of the maps pre-loaded so this isn't an issue.  The screen is a little small, but it's not hard to see.  Also, the unit is very compact, so I can just grab it and throw it in my pocket when I leave the bike. So that is nice.  If you were looking at this unit, I'd suggest the Quest 2 just because of the mapping.  It is a very nice, basic unit that is waterproof.

That being said, my next GPS will likely be a ZUMO.

i'm gonna' aggree with BobE. I have two Quest 2 units....his and hers...got refurbished for dirt cheap. they work good....but...the screen is kind of small....sometimes hard to see on the bikes (not so in the car...no problem there)...due to direct sunlight problems on the screen. plus, it's not a touch screen device. oh, they don't make em' anymore, either........

so.........my next one will probably be a  Zumo....and for the money, i'd probably take the 550 now...as others have said, they'll be getting cheaper every day now....with the 660s coming out........

For it's time, the Quest 2 was a good little booger for the $$....but some day i'd like to have that bigger screen....with a touch screen and no buttons to mess with when i have my gloves on!

Zumo 450 with Kennedy Tech hook-up.  GPS works great and the tunes are better than Bose from the internal MP3 player & 2 gig card.  I don't want a telephone on the bike.  I'll check my cell phone at the next gas stop.  The 450 should be found at a very good price now...JTL
