Much as I love my I/S, we may have to sell to pay some bills.  I took a job in January that included a significant paycut in exchange for job security and a better work environment.  Just wanted to get some ideas on what I should ask for it if it comes to that.  It's a 99 I/S, no CB, only add-ons are a Utopia backrest and driving lights that I put on it.  It has some small scratches on the saddlebag and fairing on one side from original owner dropping it while doing a U-turn.  Runs great (of course!), just under 40K miles.  I'd appreciate knowing what y'all think I should ask for it.

Sorry to hear that Squatchmo,
I can relate. I took a job paying LESS THAN HALF of my income, after being out of work for almost 2 years. My wife was laid off at the same time. she took a job paying less also. 0nly income rolling in was unemployment, which wouldn't even pay my utilities and groceries.
Now we both have medical bills rolling in and each have a $3000.00  ANNUAL deductable.
My life has changed and I understand, not the same world I grew up in.
Real sorry to hear that, hope things improve Wink
I wouldn't want to put a price tag on your baby, I had the same thoughts but am sickened at what my bike would SELL for. I'll keep it.  Best of luck to you.

One guy on here has an awesome Interstate with all the chrome and
other stuff you might ever want on it, hard to sell at 10K...

There's a couple of tired ones at a local Honda shop they almost want that
much for, they've been there for a while...

Completed listing on eBay interstates that actually sold recently
run from 6,700 to 8,800...

I would suggest that if you think you might sell it, don't wait until you absolutely have to do this. There are some buyers who like to wait until someone falls upon hard times, so they can get something cheap. I understand your dilemma, if you sell it you will probably want another one later when finances are better, it happened to me. Try to weather the storm, and there is no reason your bike shouldn't fetch $8500, good luck.

Your best bet is to take a look at KBB/NADA and also look at Ebay in the "completed auctions" section, to get an idea of what they are actually selling for.  Sure, you can look at the active listings page to see what some are asking for their bike (or whatever item they are selling), but only the completed auctions section gives you the actual what it sold for price.  Obviously those listed at higher prices either take longer to sell or don't sell, so if you need to sell expect to price it accordingly.  The bottom line is.... it's worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, and how long you are willing to wait while that someone else finds it.
