Car!
It is a Jeep 1993 Grand Cherokee, and I am so excited! She's definitely not the prettiest vehicle out there, but from what dad can tell by looking it over/listening and what not, he thinks the motor and trans are good and strong! Which is wonderful!

The guy gave it a paint job just before selling it, and it certainly isn't the best- however, it will get me down the road and maybe after a nice waxing it will shine a little better. Smiley
We're going on Monday to get everything it needs to be legal. I'm very excited and also a little sick to the stomach with all the huge costs happening at once, but I prepared for it and filled up my bank account before purchasing a vehicle. (And that was very hard to do- Psycho and Dad will tell you just how impatient I was  Wink )
I looked at probably 6 or 7 cars before settling on this one. Some were small, big, dirty, clean- but each one had something that I just didn't want to put my money into. So when dad said he thought this Jeep seemed like it would probably be reliable, I was after it. I bought it at about 9:30 last night after work, and needless to say, I could barely sleep- and when I did, I dreamed about my car. Tonight after work, my sister helped me clean up the inside. We vacuumed, polished, wiped, and scrubbed, and tomorrow we'll wash down the outside.

I am so excited, and I hope it's good to me! It is still such a funny feeling saying "my car" but a feeling I can definitely get used to..  cooldude

Hate to get technical with ya, but which engine?   4 cylinder or V6?

Other wise looks like a very nice ride for a 1st car.

Don't get scatter brained in it and get a ticket.    Those cost real large amounts of $$$$ and in most states cost ya points on your license.

I know you won't be taking it to IZ, but it will still be good to see ya on the bike on the way over there for a night.     Check your PM.   I made you and dad a deal.

congrats!  First cars are always a BIG deal and it's something you're going to remember forever.

Enjoy!

I have fond memories of a 1971 Chevy Caprice - 110,000 miles, bad exhaust, ugly green, 2 different color fenders, rusty, torn seats... and it was ALL MINE!!! for  $90.

Congrats.....at least you got to help pick your first car out..... cooldude

My Dad and oldest Sister took the $500 I had borrowed from a finance company to buy me a 1973 Dodge Dart....just like the one in this pic.....my Dad had to put another $50 on it for taxes and such that I had to pay him back....I worked at the Winn Dixie to pay that loan off.....

About 2 years later, I spent $550 to buy a Trek Mountain Bike....to ride around the Univ. of GA on....he was NOT happy about that, but it was my $$..... Wink

Not too shabby at all, for a 'first' car!

My wife loves Jeeps. Had a 93 Grand Cherokee a while back. She currently drives an '04 Liberty and now has her sights set on the 4-door Wranglers.

Enjoy...

NO matter how many friends say it is a great four wheel drive vehicle, don't under any circumstances

take it off road without your Dad being with you.

They look like they will go over anything.

They won't and they will roll over easy,,, off the road,,, and there goes your freedom and you money.

Just a thought.

Have fun

It looks nice.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I won't be taking it on any crazy mountain roads or anything like that for a while. Right now going to work and back will be good enough, not having to rely on mom anymore for a ride. Smiley

That is sharp looking! I love that body style! My grandpa had one like that, except it was white, and it was what I first started to learn to drive in on old dirt roads. Smiley

Grand Cherokee's only had 6 or 8.
I had a 95 Grand with 160000 on the clock, burned no oil, started and ran great. It's been replaced by a ranger p/u to haul stuff or I'd still have the Jeep. I would suggest trans fluid/filter change as soon as you can.
The older Jeeps are strong and long lasting.

Congrats, you'll love your jeep.  TR has a 96 jeep cherokee, has 300,000 miles on it.  Still runs good.
Just change your oil every 3000 miles or close to it. His jeep still has most of the original .  Spend less then 400 a year on repairs.  I guess that's good. Enjoy it.
