what if a non violent offender could choose a caning, whipping, flagellation, spanking over a prison term? I was taken aback, but if the offer stood would i take 30 lashes over 2 years of prison? maybe.
this might not be the best approach for the generation raised by 'dr spock'. most schools will never go to the extreme of actually paddling a child, if you think this is a good thing schools in Texas (and I think Oklahoma?) still paddle the kids. when most of us were young we were whooped in school for what we did, and double when we got home.
yeah I was a bad'un but the threat of the belt at home usually got me in line. my dad was in 'nam so my mom (5'10" farm girl) ministered the beatings.
