sounds like the worst idea ever operation gun runner/fast and furious. this was a concept brought to ATF and the DOJ by a junior ATF agent (from what I've heard). sell guns and 'track' them back to the cartels for prosecution. the failure came in the tracking, these guns (at least 2500) went over the border in hinky gun sale deals. the gun store owners made the sales after the call was made to the ATF and the ATF insisted they make the sale. does it sound suspicious if one guy comes in week after week and buys 10, AR-15s and pays cash?

the CBS story http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/02/23/eveningnews/main20035609.shtml

the CBS story is pretty damning

the DOJ's version of 'co-operation' providing completly redacted documents

stepping into the realm of near conspiracy; it doesn't take a genius to figure out the administration could use this politically for gun control legislation. point an accusing finger to the 'irresponsible' gun shops that made these reckless sales. there have been several whistle blowers within the ATF that have stepped up and done the right thing to bring this highly illegal action to light.

an ICE agent and a border patrol agent are dead because of this 'great idea' the guns used to shoot them down were traced back to operation gun runner/fast and furious

but, of course, Obama and Holder knew nothing about this operation.  Well, believe it or not, (I dont) they need to be fired if they didnt know and more so if they did.  Either way its firing time.  Impeachment would be mild......and walking papers for Holder and the heads of the ATF.  Jail time would not be inappropriate far ALL above in my opinion

Agreed. It's not nearly as bad as going to war without a good reason but still pretty bad.

You mean like the Libyan Conflict/Operations without a good reason and Congressional Approval right?

No, that's not a "war". That's a few cruise missiles and air operations. I'm talking about the full fledged war in Iraq that's claimed thousands of American lives.

But I don't think we have any business being involved in Libya either. It's money we don't have. Libya is Europe's problem and Europe should take care of it. But I'm not gonna be so silly as to compare the "Missile Commanding" and no fly enforcement in Libya to a full-scale war.

WTF? I had a reply in there...

Oh well, it was basically about the silliness of comparing a full-scale war that's cost thousands of American lives to what's happening in Libya (a few cruise missiles and sorties and no boots on the ground) and that if you're gonna call for impeachment over this then you need to call for it over that too because the reason behind the Iraq war was proven to be fabrication/selective information and if you don't then you're a hypocrite but I guess maybe that's better left unsaid.  Wink

And FWIW I'm also against any involvement in Libya and I'm pretty pissed about that. Libya is Europe's problem and Europe should handle it.

"president" Obama has committed more than one VERY impeachable act and I would be surprised if there is no talk of calling him on at least one very soon.  He is a disgrace.  In totally over his head, he knows zero about what makes the economy tick and he hates everything about America that has made us the greatest nation on the planet, so I say time to say "thanks for stopping by"

You'd have thought someone as intelligent as Obama would have learned from Bush's mistakes and avoided blundering into another conflict. Grin

The fast and furious was conceived to give the gun grabbers momentum towards another assault on our gun rights, but it backfired.  It's a known fact that the cartels are getting their grenades and rocket launchers and fully auto AK-47s from Central America.  Our local gun shops, even those on the border with Mexico, don't typically (sarcasm inserted here) carry many of these items for sale to us law abiding citizens.  There's no waiting period for grenades and rocket launchers that I know about.

The media is mostly silent on this failed attempt by a bunch of Obama's insiders (along with the help of the likes of Sarah Brady and billionaire Soros).  The administration has scrambled to destroy paper trails, stonewall congressional inquiries, and distance themselves from this BATFE travesty.

It's very unlikely that the proper punishment will be delved out to the guilty parties, all the while the administration is working feverishly on the next wave of gun control.  This is merely a speedbump in their plans.  Hold on to your hats, there's a lot brewing.

Not a fan of conspiracy theory hysteria, but this one I believe is for real.  The assault on law-abiding gun owners is about to begin, and if Obama is re-elected then be prepared for disarmament of one degree or another, up to everything but pea shooters.

It never fails with any gov't.  They always pick on the law abiding citizen and ignore the main problem.  Why? Because they don't know how to fix any problems.  They are just in power for themselves, with few exceptions.

ya, well I smile everytime the UPS guy hands me a box of .500 Magnums.  Delivery scheduled for tomorow.  I suspect my big five O's will be on the first ban list.  I need to get set up for reloading, but I found such inexpensive ammo on line I have been spoiled

there maybe evidence that 'someone' in the whitehouse signed off on this, but not a direct link to the prez.

like I said it's not a very far jump to make the conclusion they were trying to use this politically for gun control.

I wonder what would happen in Canada if you did that?  The RCMP would probably be delivering them with a warrant.

Yeah, Im sure there are those here in America that wish the government had more control over guns and ammunition.  I guess thats why gun sales havae been through the roof since Obama been in and bullets are hard to find....because they are working on it
