Hi all,

Just rebuilt the petcock (oem) with the K&L rebuild kit and ended up with an extra part.  This usually makes me nervous!  It's a 27 or 28 mm x 2 mm O ring.  Does anyone know where this goes before I install back on bike.  I did the check with the vacuum line and can see the valve open and close.   Thanks.     Brad

Go back and type this subject in the search box and look in the shoptalk section of this site. There are pictures with this valve taken down and the parts shown. Also type in hydrolock and get ready for a real education on this issue that many members had with their oem valves. I too was one of them, fortunately I did not experience the hydrolock situation. My OEM is not on the bike any more, opted for the manual pingel valve with an in-line filter. Good luck.

I think I figured it out.  The kit they sell at direct line is a 18-5254 which they list for a valkyrie.  When you plug that number into K&L's catalog you find it fits a 1995 CBR1000F.  All the parts seemed to fit but the extra O ring goes with the proper application.  Apparently the correct number should be 18-5018.   Since I have the airbox off anyway I decided to wait a few more days and install the electric solenoid valve as well for peace of mind.  Time to break out my 75 GL1000 while I'm waiting!   Thanks,  Brad
