rear wheel ins.

I just pulled my rear wheel to inspect it today before my trip from Or. to Az.and Ca. .Two mo. ago I had to replace the drive shaft and pinion cup due to it being dry and worn beyond help[junk].Well today I got a chance to look at after about 3000 miles an it was good but there was no evidence of oil on the pinion -driveshaft splines .I did grease it with just a small amount as I did not want to block the oil holes .Well it still did not get any oil in there so I cleaned everything up an added more grease so as not to run dry.I figger if there is no oil at least ther will be grease an it will last untill the next inspection. It shold be good for at least 10000 miles

After 121K miles, I've never found gear lube on mine either. I use Valvoline Durablend grease because it has 3% moly in it. No wear yet. Splines and drive unit are original.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I had no oil in mine till I has the final drive laying against my tire with pinion side down. Oil flowed right out. I was skeptical also.

I din,t know what those holes in the pinion cup are for but no oil came thru except when I had the final drive on the table an got oil all over the place. It only took an hour to remove the wheel an drive an reassemble it .At least I,m ready for a 2500 mile trip in a week an a half.My only problem is the heat in Az. its a killer
