I have a annoying rattle that I think is the result of the trunk hinge pins. I wonder if I replace the hinges with new if the new hinges will have the same issue? I did try and put some felt that is sticky on one side to help support the hinge when it is closed. No luck so far unless I didn't build it up enough or the noise is coming from somewhere else.

I used the thick felt sticky pads (about the size of a 1/2 dollar), and it worked... Maybe go thicker?

Almost bet money the rattle is coming from a loose speaker/speaker box in the armrest. Mine loosens up regular

It is the pins in the hinges. I noticed it shortly after buying mine new in 2000. Had the dealer give me new hinges, pins were as loose as the ones on the bike. I used some 1/8" thick rubber with double sided tape to hold in place between the hinges. One piece on top and one on the bottom so that when the trunk closes, it adds some pressure between the hinges and the pins stop rattling. After 11 years, mine are starting to make noise, will have to redo them. This time I will have to use some felt dots as I don't have anymore of the rubber.

I used some stick-on rubber "feet" from the cabinetry section at the hardware store, about 3/4" square and 3/8" tall. Stuck one on each hinge next to the pin. Just a couple bucks for a card with 8 on it. Been there for 5-6 years now and works fine.

Thanks for that heads up.

Here's the stick-on rubber bumpers I've used opposite the screws above. No more rattles
