For those who have done the bag quick drop conversion, could any of you provide the
lengths to cut the 10 x 1.25 and the 8 mm threaded rod to?

Also, is the 8mm 1.25 coarse thread or 1.0 fine thread?

Thanks in advance,

i didn't use the metric rod. i used carriage bolts from the inside. bought them plenty long, used locking nuts, and cut them off to the correct length. topped them with acorn nuts.

ground off the inside of the fender until it was smooth.
worked for me.

but to answer your question, buy them plenty long and cut them off to suit you, after they are installed. Smiley

I used 6" 5/16ths all thread from Lowe's in the back holes.  I used a nylock on the the inside of the fender and a standard nut against the rail. I then used a flanged nut against the saddlebag mount and cut the all thread to length.  In the middle hole I use 3/8ths all thread and did the same things as above.

Thanks, Sugarbear. I never thought of trying to get anything in a standard size to work. Finding 10x1.25 in anything that long is hard to do. I guess I should have stated that when I posted the question, I had already special ordered some stainless 10x1.25 threaded rod. So I'm good to go on the material. I just needed the length. Installing the rod and then cutting to length sounds like a plan.. thanks.

Thanks, X Ring...both you and Sugarbear determined that using SAE sizes would work. I guess I should have called up some conversion charts considering all the trouble I had finding 10mmx1.25 threaded rod. No local hardware stores carried that in any type of bolts I could think of. Thanks for your suggestion on the different "nuttages". <-----not sure if that's even a word. Smiley

Guess I need to expand on my answer.  The nutcages and stock nuts have been removed from the back holes.  That's why I went with the nylock on the inside of the fender.  The nuts for the middle hole are welded into the frame rails.  The 3/8ths isn't perfect but it is close.  If you go to a bolt supply house you should be able to 8 and 10 mm all thread.  Punisher did at Fastenal.  The 8mm will also work in the hole for the bottom front mount in the passenger peg mount.

Thanks, I do unnerstand on the reason for the nylon nut. Fastenal is where I did order the M10 rod. What made it a no go in the hardware stores is the m10x1.25 being fine thread. I found all kinds of stuff that was 10x1.5(coarse thread). I'm going to put two new tires on the bike before Inzane and will probably remove the nutcages..just in case I want to go Dark Side the next time.

Fastenal should be able to get you the nuts also since they were able to get you the rod.
