...in the last 3 days and BOTH times I've got caught in the rain a few
hours later!! Danged weatherman needs to get a job at Wally World
or something. So, I'm going to clean her again so she'll be purty when
we cruise thru Deals Gap tomorrow. If it rains again, I'll be the one on
the water-spotted Valk!!

You need to contact Detn8er. He's the "oh-fishul" rainmaker.

Dallas He!!  Come to Houston.  I'll buy you lunch/dinner!  Dallas isn't even in the ball game when the burn ban is concerned....  Houston has only had 2 inches of rain since jan 30, 2011.

And then please make your way farther south, around Victoria. We too are in a terrible rain deficit.

I do understand your "bike washing" issue. The first two times I washed mine after buying it it either wouldn't start or if it did start it ran terrible.
Both times it cost me $.  First time a battery, the next time carb rework!!
I was thinking this was going to be one of those bikes that didn't like to be washed and I just had to ride it dirty.
But I eventually got it all worked out, now it's up to me if I want a dirty bike or not.

But please consider that rain thing.

I hate a dirty bike. I live on a dirt road and I hate it alot. Not enough to push it over.

This time of year with this kind of weather you can pretty much expect a thunderstorm at any time.

Umm ya.
I purposely go for rides in rainstorms to wash my Valk.

I look at it as being innovational
The wife thinks I'm just being lazy
And most others think I'm nuts
