Progressive states no more than 5.5 inches from the top of the fork.  I run 5.5 in the right and 5.75 in the left.  Some prefer an ounce....or even slightly less to soften the ride but I prefer what I'm running it's just right for me.  The reason this is different than what Honda recommends is that the Progressive springs displace more oil.  Although they are slightly less in length the overall size of the spring is larger.

That makes me wonder if the complaints about a harsh ride with Progressive springs is the installer using the stock measurement instead of Progressive's.

I have not seen any fluid info contained with the progressive springs, that could be problematic.. But its been many years since I've purchased any of these springs.. Appr 10 years ago I removed 2 or 3 ounces from them..

SIDE BAR
Not that it's a world of difference your 5.5 - 5.75.
But honda recommends R fork at 5.3" & L fork at 5.6".

That's with the forks removed, vertical, no springs and fully compressed.

If these measurements are used with the forks in place and extended by the springs or fully extended with the front end in the air then a person would have Way-Too-Much fluid in their forks. Too much fluid = too little air to compress. And you could Blow-A-Seal  Cheesy And they'd be harsh as hell.

Ditto on reducing harshness with Progressives by reducing fluid equally in each leg by 1-2 oz.
If I recall, 1 oz. in our tubes is about .75".

Goose - Thanks for the correction....

Thanks Fellas,

I got them all back together and love them.  No more diving when hitting the breaks!
