It is a slow day in the small Georgia town of Pumphandle and streets are deserted.
Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody is living on credit.
A tourist visiting the area drives through town, stops at the motel, and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs to pick one for the night.
As soon as he walks upstairs, the motel owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.
The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill to his supplier, the Co-op.
The guy at the Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit.
The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner. The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the traveler will not suspect anything.
At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, picks up the $100 bill and leaves.
No one produced anything.
No one earned anything...
However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.

I responded to this on the joke thread too. With everyone in this scenario having a debtor and creditor owing/owed the same amount, they were never in debt. They just needed to reconcile their books!

Well then I understand.
The world economy is just like Pumphandle Georgia.
We just have to keep bailing each other out until the debt goes away.
Read today that the majority of folks on the bottom end of the food chain are living on credit.
They are buying such frivilous things as food and clothing.
Food on credit, how long can that last, certainly not until Obama gets his prescribed 8 yrs in .
They will starve.
SO help a hungry person out,,,,, vote Obama out,,,,,,,,, before they all starve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did buy some extra food every time I went to the store, just in case run away inflation started to run away. if nothing happens it goes to the food bank. if something happens it gets cooked and shared by me and the neighbors. didn't this kind of remind you of the old joke 'who's on first'?

The guy from the CO-OP doesnt pay the hooker because his cable T.V. bill is due and he needs a carton of smokes.(Priorities ,ya know ? ) What is she gonna do ? sue him ? that will take 2 yrs and he knows how to get out of payin child support so what is a prostitute gonna do that the state has not tried already ? So the hooker dont pay the hotel bill, and the hotel equals alot of tax revenue(the hotel is too big to fail). So the government robs the city folk of 2500 bucks and calls it 'tax' . Gov't gives 200 to the hotel, says 2300 is a processing fee (plus rape tax and an overcharge surcharge) and the proprietor of the hotel pockets 100 bucks ! that is how it really works

Now relate this to the U.S. debt. The average everyday taxpayer like you and me are the "prostitute" in the story because if our great country doesn't get it's finances in order, we're going to be the ones who get screwed!

When the guy answering the questions sort of gets lost on who bails who out.
Is the bestpart.
Wonderful comedic value and even though I watched it before.
It was humerous again.
Dow down 4% more today.
Glad I ain't in the Stock Market.
Sorry for those that are.
Oh I forgot it will come back.
