Working on draining the coolant from a 1999 VF 750-C Magna.  I'm having a difficult time removing the cover that hides the water pump. I have a down-loaded manual that's not  helping me and  I can't log into MOOT to question the Magna guys.

I'm wondering about the advisability of just removing the bottom radiator hose to drain the system

  That is what I did the first time on my 99 tourer.

Thanks.  My guru called, earlier, he said that's how he does it at the shop.
